I heard that story about the prawns in the curtain rod. Supposedly it was done by a woman divorcing a guy who took up with a "newer model". He kept the house in the settlement. When they couldn't get rid of the smell, they put the house up for sale and the ex-wife bought it back for much less than it was worth. Not endorsing this action at all. It might be an urban legend.

I love Emma so much! But it's always been a bit weird to me that she's routinely introduced as a "two-time Oscar winner" without mention of the relevant fact that she's literally the only person in the history of film to win Oscars for both screenwriting AND acting. And speaking of that acting Oscar... Howards End is a gorgeous film adaptation of a gorgeous novel. But lovely as it, and everyone involved, is, Emma's performance really is transcendent. And that transcendence is only magnified by interviews like this, which reveal how very dissimilar she is from her Oscar-winning portrayal of Miss Schlegel. She's just that good.

It must be wonderful loving an actress who gives One performance in such a long career.

"As a teenager in 2019, how do I not succumb to peer pressure but also not come off as lame?" Emma: "That's like saying how do you live." lol! A word of advice from a random internet stranger: ignore it all. You've spent the last 18/19 years of your life trying to fit in, because public school and high school reject the different. Everybody is expected to arrive at the same destination, so you have to have the same grades, the same hobbies and interests, the same direction in mind. But once you get to graduation, you're going to find that you don't have to fit in, anymore. You don't have to abide by what other people find "cool" or do what teachers and parents expect of you. And you're going to find a whole gaggle of other people out there who are just as hungry to get out there and be exactly who they always wanted to be, but just felt like they never could be. Maybe you're into sports and that was always frowned upon. Maybe your thing is math, but it was always considered too nerdy to keep friends. Maybe you're a homebody, and you have no desire to take part in parties and organized social events. Maybe you enjoy working late hours because you feel a sense of accomplishment. Maybe you prefer video games and cosplay, or you want to get into music and theatre, or just read and write all the time, or whatever. Nobody can tell you what's cool, or place their own expectations on you. You are always going to find other people who have things in common with you, if you go out looking for them and if you reach out to them. So find what you love, get involved with the things that give you joy, and forget about what other people think about you, because there's no sense in pleasing everybody else if it's making you feel miserable. True friends will stand by you for who you are, and those are the kinds of people who would never pressure you into doing something you aren't comfortable with.
