220ft shaft, painful!, especially given the outcome! That 2nd shaft doesn't look long for this world given the buldging timbers. Love the unmilled timbers, either done on a budget or no local mill and they sourced their own wood.

That looks like a very sketchy mine! No solid foot or hanging walls, or any sort of evidence of solid anything. Yeesh. Glad you made it out without further collapses happening!

What's the risk level compared to big-wall mountain climbing? It seems like you'd have to guess about whether each piece of timber you use as an anchor is strong enough. Also try to tell whether you're in an area with higher collapse risk.
