(Keep in mind each hopper costs five iron, and you need nine hoppers, that's 45 iron) Less of a "clever wordplay" joke and more of a "point out the irony" joke. For people that are having trouble with golems spawning outside, iron golems spawn in a 16x16 area centered around a village. In this case, each set of three villagers is a “village” so just spawn proof the surrounding blocks on the surface with carpets or whatever you have and everything should work fine after that

Thank you very much for this tutorial! I hope you'll make more content like this! In the beginning there were a few problems with golems spawning outside the 9x9x3 hole. I was finally able to fix this and have a fully working farm. Thanks to a few people in the comments I was able to find out why they kept spawning outside. Here are a few things (from of the comments) I found very useful: - Make sure the terrain around the 9x9x3 pool is flat around this area. Somebody in comments mentioned 33x33 around the center. (So 16 blocks in every direction + the center one) - Try to make the whole area a path by using right-click with your shovel. You can either use torches, buttons, slabs, etc. - Make sure there are no open caves/holes/spaces underground nearby the villagers. The golems might spawn inside. Even if it's just a one block area. After a little bit of reading on the web it seems that Iron Golems can spawn within range of 8 blocks in every horizontal direction or 6 blocks vertically from the villager. So I filled up every hole within 8 blocks from the beds. - Also make sure to dig 7 blocks down for the villager hole. - Optionally you could use spectator mode to check wether there's a hole or empty space around the villagers. I found an iron golem in a small space I didn't notice earlier.

For anyone who is having the problem of golems spawning outside you should make the villager and zombie platform a block deeper. At 1:58 you should dig it down 7 blocks not 6 then all the golems should be concentrated on the water pool. And also make sure that you build it in a relatively flat area. Hope this helps!

For the people having issues, a few things to note. I'm playing Java btw, 1.21 Make sure the hole for the villagers is 7 deep total. Also make sure the floor around the hole for the golems is all flat in an a about a 33x33 area. This to ensure the golems spawn in the hole. You don't have to dig the chute for the golems that deep if you don't want to, mine is like 12 deep with lava that kills them off and works just fine. Make sure to pay attention during the video because the boat placement matters. Lastly, make sure all the villagers are able to sleep in the bed at least once before the zombie enters.

with the hole for the golems, it is likely that deep to get them out of the villagers spawning distance because if the villagers notice a golem nearby they will delay to spawn a new one!

if you want to fix this farm in versions 1.21+ then all you need to do is build a bridge to the middle of the water area and put a boat, then at night lure a zombie to sit in the boat and give it a roof. this made my farm work.

A small fix for anyone haing the issue of zombies spawning outside of the pool, you can trap a zombie in a boat over the middle of the main pool and then destroy the path up to the zombie. the golems will aggro to it and fall in, just make sure to put a one block roof over the zombie so it wont burn.

Java 1.21.3 Multiplayer server - still works. But from what I noticed - golems spawn on the trap doors, so I replaced the ones above zombies with dirt, and to force the golems to spawn in water - I turned dirt into path blocks within 9 blocks from each bed pillow from the 12 beds of villagers. Iron golems don't always spawn 4 at the same time, but the amount of iron is still very decent. I also noticed that the golems don't spawn right after the chunks are loaded, but it fixes itself after the first night (after the time villagers are supposed to be in beds).

If you can't get the iron golems to spawn into the water make sure you dug the area for the villagers down seven blocks. At 1:54 he breaks the top level of grass and breaks six more dirt blocks. So the pit should be seven deep in total.

finally after so many trials I've know how to fix the farm if the villager doesn't care about the zombie anymore.... all you have to do is wait until its night time and cover or put a wall(solid blocks) between the villager and the zombie after that wait the villager to sleep their beds and then when they sleep you brake the blocks...

I've built this in the air and works like a charm! And some changes i recommend doing: 1- At 2:19 he says to place 2 slabs and 1 trapdoor at the middle but i placed 3 trapdoors and it works fine (and don't forget to place torches at the trapdoors cuz IG can spawn on them and kill the zombie) 2- To avoid problems, i recommend building it in the air like i did, but you have to be really careful and pay attention to every single detail, make it like it's at the ground, but in the air of course.

I had problems with the iron golems spawning outside the 9x9 area. I used a couple diamond shovels to path a huge area around it, and I also noticed they can spawn on the trapdoors which I hadn't removed initially. Replaced those with path dirt and now it seems to be fully effective. I wasn't sure if they can spawn on grass blocks with torches on them, so just to be safe I replaced the lighting with torches on stone walls

Just finished mine. It was broke at first since I built it around a large cave system, but I covered the areas surrounding each 3 villager corners in a 16x16. Also, another issue I ran into was if the blocks were not even on the top (lower y level areas), iron golems would spawn there. If you built yours around a cave or uneven ground, ensure you place carpets in the cave areas 16x16 around each 3 villager corners and fill blocks on the top to make it even. Easiest fix if your golems are spawning outside/far away: In the middle of the water, 4 blocks up. Place a slab & a boat. Lure a zombie in the boat at night. And make a 3x3 platform with slabs 3 blocks up from the boat which will work as a roof for the zombie in daytime. And then cover a big area with checkered-pattern carpets from 9 blocks away of the water. Make the carpet pattern 4 blocks wide and make sure it surrounds the whole farm. & now it will work perfectly!! 💖💖

PSA for golems spawning outside. What worked for me is the area around needs to be REALLY flat. Not just to build but for spawns to work correctly as well. After filling in all of the surrounding area with dirt to make it flat, all my golums are now spawning in the pool, thank god. That should get you pretty far, if some still spawn out, I sat there and watched which quadrant the golum was for and where it spawned, I then would fill that part with more blocks. After a while, all golums are spawning in the center. Hope it helps.

If you have problems with zombies disappearing, check to make sure you covered the floor with the boat and all the stairs in torches. I had golems spawn in there because I left them out, they would kill the zombie and then suffocate.

As of 1.20.4 (February 19, 2024) this farm works perfectly! There are a few things that will maximize efficiency, many of which other commenters have already pointed out. Firstly, spawn proof a 17x17 area surrounding the center of the farm (block above the hole w/o fence gate). The method is up to you, you can us path block which will only use about half of an unenchanted diamond shovel. Secondly, make sure to replace ALL trapdoors, golems can spawn on them!! Third of all, you dont necessarily have to light up all of the caves surrounding the farm, villages (which each of the 4 pods are considered) will check an area around a given villager that is 8 blocks horizontally and 6 blocks vertically either direction. By ANSURING THE BOTTOM BLOCK OF THE VILLAGER PODS IS 7 BLOCKS BELOW SURFACE LEVEL, AND MAKE SURE ALL CAVES WITHIN THE AFOREMENTIONED 17x17 6 BLOCKS BELOW EACH POD IS SPAWN PROOFED, you ensure that golems can only spawn in the flowing water blocks. Lastly, if your farm doesn't work immediately, it may be because the villagers haven't slept yet, a villager has to have slept once in a 20 minute period to spawn a golem! P.S. the position of the boat matters! it allows for 2 of the 3 villagers to sleep at night before seeing the zombie and panicking. Hope this helps! Let me know if I missed anything in this comment! @@solicitz I will have to go back and look but try to get it directly in the middle of all of the torches, as long as the zombie is in the middle block(where the trapdoor is) it should be fine. Just make sure that he isn’t able to see the villagers heads if they are behind the slabs, otherwise it will prevent them from sleeping and keep golems from spawning. Good luck! :)

If the villagers aren't locking onto the beds at night you can also just row the boats on top of the holes, get out of the boat, and break it. Line the boats up so the front and back are facing the long ways if the hole.

@@cvillerunner2 this is probably not a problem for you anymore but to get a villager to sleep in a new bed you have to find their already existing bed; meaning that the villager already has a designated bed somewhere so you have to destroy it before you can get him to go into a new bed.

farm works well (1.20.1 optifine) rates of around 1k iron an hour what i did in addition to this video: pathed out and slabbed a radius of 15 ish blocks from the centre of the built (most important), as well as having the surrounding area lit up (i dont know if the mob cap applies and considers golems) have 7 zombies on boats (2 fell down some holes, dont know if this had an effect) what i didnt do: did not spawn proof the underground caves the golems could be spawning in, this might be the reason why the rate of iron decreased over time. testing: 30min: 519 iron 60min: 973 iron this build would be easier high up in the sky, less work needed to spawn proof caves.

gossiping iron farms produce a lot less than scaring farms

I was gonna leave a negative comment, and although i still don't feel fully happy, this farm works amazing. Simple, fast, easy to get the villagers and zombies in. Setup was no time. Took more time getting the villagers. The problem here is that you need like a 30x30 area OR MORE around the farm, spawn proofed. Simple choice is making them all path blocks. simple but not fast. also you need to ensure there are no hidden holes or caves. i had ONE block empty one block underground and a golem spawned there. But if you chose a super FLAT area, and made them all path blocks, it works quite nice. I had used the farm i saw on another video, 3 villagers and the whole thing was like 19x19. yeah all the villagers died. everything spawn proof, idk. Farm works. Got a double chest fairly quick. No more worries about iron for hoppers, pistons ect.

Playing 1.21.1 here, if you run into the same issue as me where the Iron golems spawn outside the pool - Try paving the dirt 8 blocks out from each villager furthest from the pool, so you’ll have an area of 35 x 31 (or 35 x 35 to be safe like I did) with the pool in the center. This should stop the golems spawning outside of the pool, if they do then try making the area bigger. Bottom slabs, leaves, glass, carpet, and farm land are all non spawn-able blocks as well so if you don’t want just a massive area of paved dirt you can give that a try. Also, I found that I needed to put torches on top of my trap doors to prevent spawning so that’s another thing to keep in mind!

This is one of my favorite iron farm designs. HOWEVER - there are 2 problems with this design : 1. the villager "pockets" should be 8 deep and not 7. If you do 7 the golems spawn on the ground level. 2. while not really a problem, this farm has a HUGE footprint. It looks compact but it's actually a beast size wise.

I have a few problems with this farm. 1. in one chamber the villager are running against the trapdoor and not away from it 2. in 2 chambers there is always one villager which can sleep without being scared, but the chambers are built exactly the same 3. there’s always just one iron golem spawning and it’s really slow Can someone help me? you probably built farm wrong, it doesnt matter what the villagers are doing, if you have 3 in each one and the farm is built properly, they should be spawning rather fast if you are near the farm, but dont expect it to be mega fast, they just spawn whenever and give you lots of iron that stack up after you wait a while

WHY ITS NOT WORKING 1.21+ 0:33 When you are digging the 9x9 pit where the iron golems should spawn. Instead of digging only a 2 block height (like in the video) make sure you go 1 block down for a total of 3 blocks (iron golem height). This will fix the spawning issue. The 4 spots where there is no water will not cause problems with the farm. (Make adjustments if needed) Additional: From the center of the pit (9x9 Iron Golem Spawning Area) go 25 blocks outwards. That is the limit of where the golems can spawn outside of the farm. Use Dirt Path’s, Buttons or leaves to cover this 625 block area. (Thats 9.7 Stacks of buttons, dirt path’s or leaves) Hope this helps! P.S: i went as far as enlarging the pit to a 10Lx3Hx10W box. Works wonders. Even fixed the 4 empty water spots.

@@nefijones4382 hello 👋 Check for caves/tunnels underneath your farm. There should be absolutely 0 all the way down to ur chests (killing area). If thats not the issue, then it also depends on the version you’re playing. I don’t know if it works on Bedrock but if you’re playing Java then it should work 1.20+ If thats also not the issue then consider placing work stations in the pits of where the villagers are held. I’ve placed 3 work stations in all 4 villager pits JUST in case it will cause an issue. It can be a variety of things. I only understand a tad bit of iron farms but i am no expert. I can only help so much! 😅 but i hope i helped a bit!

Maybe try blocking the zombie off temporary so the villagers cant see it? Im not good at this kind of stuff so idk honestly xD

This works great! I'd recommend building it in your spawn chunks to make it always active, and also staying near it for a while to make sure that the golems aren't spawning outside of where they're supposed to (I built it wrong, the tutorial's farm works great).

Spawn proofing in Minecraft means making an area unspawnable for mobs. In the context of your question, spawn proofing with pressure plates prevents golems (or other mobs) from spawning in unwanted areas outside the farm. This works because golems can only spawn on solid blocks, and pressure plates count as non-solid blocks, making those blocks unsuitable for mob spawning.
