Topaz has a new album out and you should listen to it:

This video was a nightmare. I probably spent longer on this video than I did on the original. What was originally supposed to take 7 nights to record dragged out to nearly a month.
Recording the omnidirectional tiles was extremely unreliable and required multiple workarounds that I wasn't aware of at the outset. This was made worse by the fact that I didn't devise a method to check if a recording was in sync until after I had wasted over 100 hours on bad recordings.
The torch-beats were redone from scratch.
Recorded on Minecraft 1.2.5.

GLSL Shaders & Acid Shaders - Obligatory
Minema - Recording
Camera Studio - Basically a replacement for the Minecart. The camera path I made is actually moving both forward and up. The upwards motion is compensated for in the Acid Shaders code, and then used as the time variable. I did this because worldTime cannot be precisely controlled between recordings, which is an issue for recording omnidirectional.

Looks absolutely unbelievable at 2x speed on a 120hz ULMB display. It’s even 1440P footage if you have something like the Acer Predator or ROG Swift. I showed my dad and a friend and it blew their minds. It's crazy realizing how unique that experience is. ULMB displays are extraordinarily rare to begin with, and in 15K views, I'd bet I'm the only one to do it. Is the motion-blur that occurs past the 16 second mark, synthetic (done in post)? If so, can you PLEASE upload a version identical to this but without the blur? This could be an incredible resource for demonstrating framerate and clarity of motion, but the motion blur hinders it a bit. I understand if it's simply a result of the process that made the video, but if it's post processing it should be easy enough to fix. Thanks regardless! :D Side Note: The 1.2GB 1440P file is so high bitrate to begin with, that even my 3770K using MPC-HC couldn't handle it at 2x playback speed. 46,978 kbps doubled to 93,956 kbps. Maybe another player could handle it properly, I'd need to test. It seems counter-intuitive, but KZbin's compression and HTML5 player might just be the best way to reliably pull it off with zero hitching. 1080@120 fullscreen only saw 15% CPU usage, with 1440@120 (downsampling) hit around 35%. GPU hardware accel might be helping considerably as well.
@MiningGodBruce
@MiningGodBruce 8 жыл бұрын
+MangoTangoFox I was actually going record and release this in 144 hz, but After Effects and Sony Vegas both have issues with anything 100hz or over. The motion blur is done in post, but unfortunately I deleted my recording files just last night, because I needed space for recording new stuff. If you're having issues decoding the video when you should look at your video decoder options. I'm not sure how you installed MPC, but if you did it without any additional codec pack, you may want to go download LAV or something and try hardware decoding. On another note I'm wondering where you found this video? In the initial 5 days it was up it only got 5k views, but it's gotten more than double that in just the past few hours.
@MangoTangoFox
@MangoTangoFox 8 жыл бұрын
MiningGodBruce Kotaku posted it (typical kotaku endlessly posting other people's content >.>). Though at least they used your name as a link to the video, along with a standard embed. I have MPC from SVP, and I really only use it for that (real time frame interpolation). Really not sure how it's setup as it came pre-tailored.
@MiningGodBruce
@MiningGodBruce 8 жыл бұрын
+MangoTangoFox O wow. The article consists of 3 sentences and an excerpt from the description. No effort, but the fact that they're promoting effort sorta makes up for it. I was typing out instructions to try and help you install LAV without screwing up SVP, but then I realized I don't have any idea what I'm doing and I'm just gonna fuck your configuration up. I've spent hours messing around with K-Lite and SVP, it's a big hassle when you screw something up, and I don't think trying LAV out would even be worth it considering the situation I had trying to playback some of the omni-directional files.

+LordVGames Dunno lad, I never really went anywhere, and this is probably not a good time to say I'm back. Acid Interstate V3 is becoming a huge amount of work (I'm currently re-writing all of SUES) and I'm spending a lot more time on school now that I'm not home-schooled anymore. It kills me, but I can't see V3 being done before like summer 2016.

Just amazing. So satisfying to watch. I was bobbing my head the whole video xD By the way, it's a lot to explain I'm sure, but may I ask how you pulled this off? The timing is what I'm most interested in, but having that omnidirectional recording to get the acid effect is also awesome.

***** Thanks for your reply, but the steadiness of the camera has nothing to do with what I was asking about.
@MiningGodBruce

+Vaysm The basis of the syncing in the video is that I was able to get a consistent recording, exact same frames in exactly the same position, over multiple recording sessions. This enables me to record the video with the coordinate screen open, and get precise coordinates to beat positions. "Synced-session recording" is something that I came up with way back when I made the original version of this video in 2013, and refining it was the pre-requisite to a few other techniques I used for this V1 remake, namely the omni-directional version, which required 6 perfectly synced recordings.

+MiningGodBruce Oh my GOD, THAT'S what you did? That's an impressive amount of work. My first thought was that you looked at the transients in the wave form of the song to get the beat timings, and then calculated the speed of the minecart and distance of the track to get the relative coordinates to sync up. Awesome stuff
@MiningGodBruce
@MiningGodBruce 8 жыл бұрын
Vaysm That might have worked, but I don't follow a rigid tempo for the whole video, so it would have been somewhat annoying to figure out (not that my method was that great).

+Daniel Hicks The vehicle actually does fit within the track, however this is the first video in the series to lack an actual vehicle. It wasn't included because it's not compatible with the recording workflow I used, and because it's only within the field of view during the first few seconds of the video. I don't quite understand your second comment, could you clarify? Thanks for being constructive.
