genius! I used allays as totem and emerald collectors while I was freeing them from an outpost. there was an unknown village nearby so I started a raid for free totems and they brought loot for me :)

I found two allays at an outpost and on transport lost one (it got left behind and I couldn’t find it) so I took the last one back home. When that one ended up disappearing, I went back and actually found the lost one! When I brought that one home, my other one came out of hiding! It was a beautiful reunion of brothers! They need friends for sure lol

What would be really cool is if you used dynamic lighting. If you went mining, you could give an Allay a lantern and it would fly around lighting up the place around it. I’d like to try it when the Optifine Update comes out xoxo

I was thinking the same thing, except with a datapack. I use a dynamic lighting datapack. If you drop a light-emitting item, it still emits light. I don't know if Optifine does that or not. It's been a while since I bothered with Optifine.

Really love how the allay is Minecraft’s first true fantasy based companion mob ( I like to think of the strider as just a mount ) really cool how it follows you wherever you go, almost like a wolf. My only problem with the allay is that it doesn’t teleport to the player when it goes out of follow range. Imagine how cool it would be if the allay could teleport to you mid air, you would be able to take them on elytra trips which would make them so much easier to transport all the way from the mansions where they spawn most commonly!

I think the reason they don't teleport to you is so that you can still keep them in farms (sure they could just make it so they don't teleport if leashed but it'd be better for having more movement so that they could cover a wider area)

Random idea I just came up with/tip: give yourself and an allay fire resistance (1 splash potion together, don’t be wasteful) then take them to the nether for blaze rods, it’ll be much easier while you’re fighting the blazes

Swords are more efficent and the Blaze isn't really difficult to kill, since your close enough using a sword anyhow, it fundamentally is pointless to bring the allay. realistically the only use an Allay really has is remaining caged like the pointless mob it is, should of provided it loot so there was a reason to at least hunt them down to kill it.

@@fellowasp6768 well no, I get how its cute, but reality until they begin to increase the mob caps its actually extremely unbeneficial to keep them alive, because they actually adhead to the Passive Mob Cap which affects farm efficiency, which has done nothing but force us to attempt to create force spawn methods to immediately kill, however the issue is Allays don't abide by force spawn tactics, thus decreasing farm efficiency's between 2%-99% depending how long its been running, each hour increases it by 1% which ultimately means we need to go on a killing spree every couple of hours because they failed to create a method to allow us to kill them efficiently.

You could also give them an item of something you wouldn’t want to lose when you die. Imagine wondering far from home on a survival world with your favorite enchanted diamond sword. Suddenly out of nowhere an Enderman brings your life to an end. You forgot that you broke your bed the night before an now your player has spawned at world spawn. 1000 blocks away from where you died! There’s no way you can retrieve your prized sword without it despawning, but then you remember that you had an alley with you who collects diamond swords! All you have to do is make your way back to where you died and greet your alley who has been holding your sword safe and sound!

I want to warn you all, even if allays don't take normal damage, they DO take fire damage (at least in bedrock, haven't tried it in java yet). So if you have a fire aspect sword, I recommend you don't hit it with that.

Another use for it is if you have a big piglin trading farm or you're just trading with a ton of piglins, you can give it a specific item you're looking for (Like ender pearls) so you don't have to get all the extra stuff and clog up your inventory

While I love the allay right now there are a few things they could maybe improve or add to the mob to make it better or make it more valuable or versatile How about they add an upgrade mechanic and with each upgrade you get an extra use out of the allay Like extending the range at which it can detect and pick up items Or if your inventory is full and the allay is holding like a cobblestone block then any cobblestone on the floor will be picked up by the allay and they could hold on to it until you make more space Of course the first upgrade of this could be they get an extra slot to hold items instead of just having one slot ( I think it's only one slot they have idk ) Keep upgrading till you hit the cap which could be like 3 or 4 slots And with each upgrade they could get an appearance change Or slight change to let the player know which ones are at what level etc and ultimately so they don't get confused if they have multiple lol As for the materials or material you need to upgrade them It could be something rare from a boss or a regular enemy.

I love the allays! I use them for sticks on trees, items from dead monsters, and baked potatoes from my furnace. They keep getting stuck in lanterns though, so I hope that bug gets fixed eventually

I have one that collects eggs from a couple chicken cages then drops them near a note block with a hopper minecart underneath. He misses a lot but picks them back up and tries again, eventually they make it into the hopper. Under the hopper minecart I have another hopper that feeds them into a dispenser which shoots them out giving me lots of chickens that I promise I kill in the nicest way possible;) with my fortune 3 sword, of course. 😎

the fun thing with allay and invisibility like this- just makes a machine that throws out whichever item its holding and it will go there, then another dispenser can splash it with invisibility again. So you can just keep reapplying the effect. My biggest use of the allay so far was fish farming, I just have two allay following me looking for fish while I swim underwater and kill them, since items will flow to the top of the water if I miss some, instead of swimming all around to gather them allay will just do that for me. Similar thing can be done with kelp, just making your job a bit easier

HEY WATTLES I just wanted to share, they are actually not that great at following you! I lost one of my first 2 Allays I found and I didn't know what to do. But then I remembered the devs added the simulation distance and I figured my Allay might have frozen up somewhere. So I turned up my simulation distance and retraced my steps and after a little while it came flying towards me out of the distance! Maybe mention that in a video to help people like me who forget about the simulation distance? I was soo upset until I realized what happened, I thought it had despawned or something and I had no idea what to do :(

So far I've had no trouble with allay following me in a boat but as soon as I run they lose track of me really fast. Personally I prefer to build them a nice greenhouse and trap them there so they don't get lost or kill themselves in my fireplace or something 😅 Edit: Obviously they don't despawn if you trap tamed allays and leave the area so it's perfectly safe.

Allay isn't useful so I wouldn't really say this is a useful feature for the Amethyst Shards. you have to take into account as well, that the world does infact have a Mob cap, and to make this Mob useful you would need 9 different worlds that don't transfer items between eachother, and 8 of those 9 worlds would have no other mobs period... kinda pointless.

Please do a video on the Skulk Sensors, Blocks, Growth, Catalyst and Shreikers and try a little Experiment that I would like to see done. knowing that the Skulk Catalyst will randomly emit Skulk Growth whenever a Mod Dies nearby, and that the Skulk Sensors will work with the Shreikers, as well as Skulk Growth later becoming Skulk Blocks, Do you think that it is Possible to set up a Little Piece of the Deep Dark in the Overworld on the Surface to then grow Skulk around a Village and Spawn the Warden near said Village? Maybe you want to have another use for the Pillager Outposts and Woodland Mansion and Have the Warden give the Pillagers a Nightmare!

For some reason there's some inconsistencies with leads and allays. Sometimes in survival when I was trying to leash them there's no word leash only "give item" but when I switch to creative for some reason I can leash them even tho it's said give items to allay. Also sometimes it can pick up leads sometimes not. I play on android btw.

Other cool tip for the allay: if you lose your beloved enchanted pickaxe but you have a spare unenchanted pickaxe of the same material, give it to an allay and it will find it for you! In other words: allays pick up enchanted things even if they were given something without enchants

First time I got one I named it Wispwisp with out knowing that was close to being the actual mob name!!

How do you keep allays on a base? So they would not run always with you. Is it safe to leash them? Does it need to carry item when it on leash (because allay try to reach you with item)? Or better smth else?

Well after this I guess I know what happened to a pair of Allay I found in my world. Don't take them over an ocean if you're exploring! :'(

The allay seem a little too janky to be used for anything too "industrial", but they could be useful for odd jobs like wood collection...

Love it. Also, question. What about using a piston to push a note block into a hopper mine cart? Probably not perfect collection, but cheaper than 8+ hoppers.

You could just use some water collection under the note block as well, if the cost is too high.
