Minecraft: Automatic Egg Farm / Chicken Coop

Today's build is a simple chicken coop with a built-in egg farm. Not only is this farm aesthetic, but it is also fully functional and can provide unlimited eggs!

Helpful tip to everyone. The trap doors as fences may not be a good idea in survival mode. The chickens, foxes and wolves easily jump over them.

chickens cannot jump out and wolves don't attack chickens.

@@daichishusband3674 Well chickens do jump, just not as high as foxes and goats. But the commenter is right, foxes do pose a threat to chickens and will jump fences and trap doors to get to them, so unless you don’t live in an area where foxes spawn, you might want to use two fences or something else that foxes can’t jump over.

Tip: place some honey blocks around trap doors and then cover it with carpet or moss carpet then they will not be able to jump out

Just a heads up you need to use a fence instead of a wall thats what i had to do because they were able to jump on the wall and escape

@@isabellaburnham2896 might be a bit late but if u put honey blocks around the inside perimeter of the coop the chickens won’t be able to jump so they can’t escape. Then u can make it look better by covering it with carpet

Love it. Had to use fence, tho. They kept jumping on top of each other and using that leverage to get over the trapdoors. But it absolutely looked great af either way. Although the trap doors look coolest. Definitely looks cooler than the other auto egg farm I was doing. Lol.

I made this because it was so cute but I change the gate from the trap door to the cobblestone wall because they jumped over it. Other than that beautiful! I learn something new with the composer as well!

Old post, but....fences behind the trapdoors worked for me! Then just put the 'gate' trapdoor in backwards from how he has it. Trapped chicker with the same aesthetics~

i don't get why so many people are complaining, i thought it was common sense that they could jump over the trap doors, just place a fence inside or just do a fence or wall. also the hoppers do work you just have to crouch and put the pointed exactly on the top part of the chest so the funnel is running the the chest then for the other hoppers stay crouched and place them beside each other with the pointer at the top part of the hopper. this is a fantastic build thank you!

i know a lot had troubles with the trapdoors because the chickens kept jumping over, just put a pattern of half slabs over it if you want. walls are cute too but the trapdoors are 1# in my op so this is a good tip

Tip : do not free the chickens inside, let them produce eggs. (breed them until they are 20-30). Take the eggs and break them in the outside and let the chicks grow. Magically, u got yourself a chicken farm!

Very nice tutorial! A beautiful chicken farm I must say, perfect for my Survival World! Only “bad” thing is that the Trapdoors are not keeping the chickens inside. They can jump over from both sides. I have tried both. But I just replaced it with fences instead. And it looks great! Thanks! 😊

I have a great recommendation for this build and it's simply replacing the inside stone wall poles to wood fence instead!!! I made this coop for my gf and while I was moving away from the coop with my seeds still out, the remaining chickens outside the coop(within the trapdoors) could hop onto the stone wall pole and hop right over the trap doors. After the edit it should be chicken proof 👍😀.

I remember years ago the really simple way was a bucket of water, one hopper and a chest. Chickens would stay in the water, the current would carry eggs to the hopper then the hopper would put eggs in the chest. I still do that because I'm lazy.

Wow! Ty for the idea! When i get the time i Can try it in my survival World! It will be much easier than placing a Carpet and jump on it to collect eggs every Minecraft Day! I normally use the eggs only for more chickens but it’s still much better to have it go by itself so i get every egg :) Im excited to try it out, i love ur builds have so much debt (Idk how to spell it) Edit: i’ve made it just a worse version but i am still working on it to match my place and style :) (I needed to put a double chest instead of 1 cuz it kept filling AND i made 2 more double under xD)

Okay so the chickens did jump out but I just lined the inside of the trap door fence with normal spruce fences so it still looks the same and the chickens won't get out

What do you mean ‘ensure all hoppers are facing into each other’? I can’t see how that looks from underneath. I’m standing in same position placing them as you are this video but the eggs won’t go into the chest (which is also in the exact same place in relation to the hoppers). Does this not work in bedrock?

Make sure you are crouching when you place the hoppers (you should see the little funnel part it aiming towards the chest)

Just make sure to place one hopper touching the chest ( Do this by crouching and clicking on the chest ), then the rest of the hoppers just need to be touching the other hoppers
