That's kind of how rendering works in all video games anyways. The camera isn't ever actually moving per se; It's the world that's doing the moving, always has been, and always will be. More advanced game engines will have a camera object that makes things more tangible and logical, with a camera position and rotation that automatically does the transformation math for you, but at the end of the day, it's all just an illusion.

@@Wilker_uwu Minecraft's engine was actually custom-built in Java, using a library called LWJGL. I'm not sure if it has a built-in camera object though.

in older versions the camera is directly rendered at the player entity, there were no separate camera coordinates, so 3rd person just moved the rendering of the entire world backwards etc, all entities y coordinates internally were at their eye level instead of at their feets.

This reminds me of how I had to deal with similar corruptions of older Minecraft unironically. The thing is, when i was a kid, my hard drive memory was full as heck: everything literally fit into a couple of megabytes of free space. And when i played minecraft, i had to put up with the fact that something always wasn't loading right. Unrendering lighting, missing chunks, those white textures with "missing texture" written on them (I was calling those "newspaper blocks", they just reminded me of it), weird particles and just a lot, a lot of lags. And i still played Minecraft that way.

Cool! I haven't tried this in a while. Seems like lighting glitches and sound effects (as well as their pitch at times) being off are some of the most common effects. From what I can remember, I've also seen things like; stretched beds, pressure plates appearing larger than normal, the "creative mode" glitch, fov weirdness, dropped items disappearing immediately upon being dropped, the inventory looking strange, and other rendering glitches. There's a unique case I had one time where the Y coordinate for the position of a minecart in my base was bumped up. The minecart had warped from where it was stationed underground to on top of the roof of a watch tower that happened to be directly above. EDIT: All of that experimentation I talked about was done on Beta 1.7.3 at least 6 months ago. I tried to figure out which memory domains produced results and proceeded to target them with random parameters using the vector engine.
