TapL said he only had 8 obsidian blocks of the piglins, but he had enough crying obsidian. Crying obsidian can't be used as a portal in THE OVERWORLD, but it can be used in THE NETHER. When he said he hadn't enough he was in the Nether, so he (you) could've easily build a Nether portal
