Did you really said this game has deep lore? Oh god. As a developer I can tell you that the story can't be more plain. Their formula is trying to surprise the player with an early plot-twist that doesn't move much the story. You do a lot of side quests that "tries to generate more lore by adding a possible ways of expanding the world and your main plot" but surprise, they doesn't end in anything valuable. Not surprised why the 99% of the people just skips the story.

When xNestorio used one-shot attack boss, he said that it wasn't a boss. However, he just got lucky for getting ability of bugged diamond sword, which is despawning the mob(though in 1.12.2 chance was higher and it didn't turn in normal diamond sword after using ability)
