Pistons have a small push limit, but in some cases, this limit is ok, and thus, should exist in some form. To do this we use a new set of items, redstone cores. These may also be implemented into observes for further detection ranges, dispensers for dispensing range, etc. but right now, we’ll just focus on the piston. The cores creating will be as shown: OMO MRM OMO O= None M = Material (will be explained) R = redstone dust. There are multiple different materials that can be used, each has a tier level starting from 0. The push limit for a piston using that redstone could core will also be shown: 0: cobblestone, 12 1: iron, 16 2: lapis 20 3: gold 24 4: quartz 36 5: emerald 48 6: diamond 60 7: nether star 120 These redstone cores would now replace the dust in the piston crafting, making the old piston only cost 4 more stone. These pistons will have a new texture, where the material used will appear in the bottom four corners of the piston. These are the colors for each tier: 0: none 1: iron 2: lapis 3: gold 4: white 5: emerald 6: diamond 7: corners which, like prismarine, shift from blueish white to purplish white That’s just my idea, feel free to suggest ideas (you will be credited) and maybe even like it (you know why, i don’t have to explain do I?”

Here in 2020 looking back, I love how Mojang can take the needs of players and answer them in creative ways. People have been asking for a larger push limit, because they want to move big things, but instead we got honey blocks, which allow for many of these crazy things in a creative and unusual way. Instead of taking the easy way out and doing what seems to make sense, they instead do something that allows players to be creative in solving their problems.

Maybe Mojang could add "weak piston", with 12 block push limit, and "strong piston", with 20 (or 24, maybe 25) block push limit. This variation will give players higer piston strength (with strong pistons) and let them keep some old redstone machines that are based on 12 block push limit (with weak pistons). Hey, Mumbo, people use powered rails with minecarts to avoid falling through slimeblock machines. The minecart positions are calculated serverside so there's no risk of falling through anything. The powered rail just makes it so the minecart doesn't gain much momentum.

Game rule wouldn’t work, with a second piston type you could build creations that require a 12 block push limit and ones that require 24. Also the redstone strength rule would be impossible because of the way the game handles redstone states, and it would break a lot of stuff. ilmango was able to pass the redstone limit but only with comparators. When transferred to redstone it just reset to 15

I think the push limit should be higher, maybe 24 or 32 blocks, but not 1000. Just doubling or tripling it would still make a huge difference.

Honestly I believe they should try to optimize the game a bit better first, so that 30 or 40 blocks are even possible. And then they should increase the push limit to 20, so that Lag and invisible blocks arent a problem.from 12 to 20, You can build a ton more stuff with that

They should make it so that pistons can work together, so if 2 pistons are pushing the same mass of blocks, it can push up to 24, 3 can push 36, ect.
