You know, I don't think it was ever clarified that it was a love spell. That was heavily implied by the thumbnail and the dialogue, but we don't actually know what spell Tina cast on him. It may not have been a love spell- it just says "THE SPELL". I mean, for someone who just cast a love spell on her crush, Tina sounded _awfully_ surprised when he started complimenting her. Could've been excitement, but it's odd to me. But if that's the case, what spell did she cast? I think the purpose of the spell was to take away someone's fears and make them stronger (hence the magic and superhearing on top of the new persona). So when Ryan entered a trance, a version of him that wasn't afraid of rejection, cooties, or causing conflict in the daycare, he spoke freely what he felt about Tina, and was happy to date her. Tina _suspected_ that Ryan liked her, but was insecure about whether she or Goldy was his crush. But the first thing he did when his fears went away was tell her how beautiful she was. That's why she was not only so shocked, but so thrilled- and so desperate to stop them from breaking the spell. She knew his words were real, and didn't want to go back to a status quo where he refused to say them. I think it makes a bit of sense. He didn't seem afraid of anything from the time the spell was cast to when the ice started breaking the spell. Yes, he did say he was nervous, but said nervousness never really appeared in his behavior. She did say something like "I made him fall in love with me and get superpowers", but I think this could still work. Tina came on very strong at the start of their relationship, and they became a thing largely after that first kiss. So while it's perfectly plausible she was referring to the spell, she may have been referring to how she won his heart, then used a spell to give him superpowers. It's just a fun little theory.
