From then on, every player on a server will get their own 70 hostile mobs to play with. They don't overlap though, which means you won't be able to stack multiple mobcaps in the same area anymore, but i think that's a fair trade.

Mob Caps are how many mobs can spawn around an individual player, currently it is split among everyone online, but in 1.18 everyone will have their own 70 mob spawning limit sphere, when they overlap, you share the 70, when they are separate, you get 70 to yourself.

@Doomed Guy Yeah, just to be clear this is not about how many/which mobs are visible to you, once a mob spawns everyone can see it if they go to where it is. This is just about whether that mob spawns at all in the first place. If there are already 70 mobs near to you then another one won't spawn.

Gnembom creates highly efficient farm designs which are guaranteed to produce the best results(also, it's the generally a part of the scicraft server, rather than solely gnembom doing it) Ianxofour's Minecraft Elegance series, on the other hand, is more of a smart way to get really good rates, by doing a lot less work in proportion. You're comparing Diamonds, which can't be broken by most materials, to water, which can bypass the strength of most materials using it's fluidity.

@@Fr0ng Yes, depending on the server. Smaller ones with less people tend to work better, but if it's larger or there's plugins that prevent AFKing, then not as well. Works best when you're the only person on sadly.

this is one of the greatest farms i've built, ever. i built this in my hardcore world 1.19.4 and it's geniunely amazing. i've built enderman farms in past worlds, but this is so much better because: - xp is insane, as fast or faster than an enderman farm - way more use out of it, i can sell the cod, use the prismarine for blocks, use pufferfish for potions, etc. - super easy to build and you can build it without needing to beat the ender dragon i can't thank you enough. if anyone is on edge about building this, don't be. build this ASAP

For those who updated to 1.19 and this stopped working: check the nether side. The guardians were not taking the nether portal to get back to the overworld for me and it was because the redstone timer setup that opens the fence gates somehow stopped working. All I had to do was repeat the step at 15:05 and put the 38 trash items back in the hopper.

Worked like a charm. I modded the loot processing by letting the drops fall down through a spider web to sea level and have two item sorter there getting everything neatly organized. Very well explained and to use the despawn sphere is genius!

I just built it on a small server with some friends... I was contemplating wheter to build a simple enderman xp farm or your guardian farm and ultimatly chose your design over the enderman farm, simply because of the more useful drops. And I am so glad I did. I was worried that it would be hard to build in survival, surrounded by all those guardians, and that it may lag our small server but it works without any problems while beeing the easiest guardian farm I ever built. Your elegance series is probably some of the best content youtube has to offer for casual survival players, thank you for your tutorials! For those who play in 1.20.4: I did NOT do the extra steps written in the description, it worked just like it did in the video.

@@ShadyWestHaze Yeah I did, there wasn't a reason not to since I needed sponges anyways. I killed them in the duration of a singel waterbreathing potion though, that really wasn't an issue. But honestly you could skip the elder guardians if you carefully place the blocks and use a slimeblock or honeyblock for temporary blocks as shown in his tutorial.

Does this farm require two players? I don't understand how the guardians come through the nether portals if somebody isn't in the nether to load that area? Is the hopper clock loading the nether side which allows the guardians to come through?

I built this and noticed that putting extra portals on the sides of the guardian collection area makes it more efficient but at the cost of extra obsidian tho. I think it's worth it to enclose that area with portals rather than just 2 block high walls on the side especially if u have extra obsidian to spare

@@supanjibobu372 Nah I'm still in 1.18.2 but it should still work perfect fine in 1.19. I only replaced the side walls with portals to get the guardians to the nether a little faster. I didn't bother building a 4 long portal since the guardians despawn almost instantaneously in that area if you are on the afk spot.

Excellent video. Farm works wonderfully, and it takes under an hour even if you build slowly and double check that you made it all correctly. The enchanting table and anvils nearby are a great recommendation too.

(java 1.20.2) I built this last night and HOLY CRAP this is one of the nicest, most elegant, ridiculously effective XP and drop farms I have ever used, and you do not have to clear or drain the monument!. The explanation and walkthrough of the build was fantastically done, with no ambiguity to the instructions. Please note the author's update in the comments about a difference in 2 items in the stated materials list. Only caveat is that it will likely take you more than a hour to do the built, following the step0by-step directions, but they are so well done you will get there in the end, with zero issues.

Update: after testing this farm is a absolute beast! So much so that I had to make an extremely crazy filter/storage system to catch all the prismarine drops. 1: you’ll have to alter the water stream slightly as the position of the guardians when they die makes items drop in the center of the water stream (prolly why Ian uses two rows of hoppers) this didn’t work for my filter system so I bent it back a couple of blocks then bent back to the sides to align all items along the correct wall (back wall for me) 2: this farm produces a lot of items in larges batch’s so even 5 slices of double speed item filters were missing stacks of drops I had to use 8x speed item filters using mine carts!!! (Now I catch all prismarine drops! Tho very expensive resource wise) Ianxofour!!! Gotta say your farms are th best!!! My world is littered with your designs!!!!! Thank you sooo much!!!! It was worth the headache of rebuilding my filter and storage system multiple times lol!!!!

Just built this. I've double-checked that all my Y-levels match what you have, but the majority of my guardians are dying of fall damage. Very few actually survive the fall. I've rotated the fence gates by 90 degrees as you said, and I've widened the portal box on the nether roof. I'm in Java 1.20.1 edit: I doubled the size of the nether portal box to 4-wide, and broke one of the portals by the monument, so I now just have 2 portals. That seems to have mostly fixed it. I still get a few deaths, but it's no longer the majority. I guess the mob rate for this one is just too intense lol

I really appreciate the potential fix! I followed the steps you provided and there were def improvements, but even making the portal in the nether 5-wide resulted in stuff dying from the drop after a certain amount of time. I just ended up placing 2 cobwebs inside the drop shaft. No fast kill times for me but no xp wasted.

A few months ago I finally decided to do what is widely considered the most annoying task in minecraft: drain an ocean monument. I used a method with dragon eggs that I *believe* ilmango showcased, and was able to get it done in about 4 days, but the method had for some reason not been working as well (relied on spam clicking dragon eggs to fill in water) and cut speed down to like a 20th of what it was supposed to be, not to mention it was LAGGY, and you had to dupe 10s of thousands of eggs. By the end of it, I had a farm that easily hit the exp threshold and would give me more blocks in an hour than I could ever use. It was just so, so, so overkill. While fun to do once, it was something I swore to never do again but this is just insane. Start to finish took an hour to reach the same end as the overkill farm, and only took an hour since it was the first time building it. It really is just such an elegant design and will do more than anyone could possibly need. Absolutely amazing. Also as a sidenote, (assuming there hasn't been a change I'm unaware of), this farm will get you to lvl 1000 in 24-26 hours.

Great design, without a question, keep in mind though that this design should be way laggier than the usual guardian farm because off the relatively long lifespan of the guardians, the hundreds of guardians stuck in the nether for 15 seconds and of course the portal cashing

Considering desert temples have no customized mobs by default, there's no special vanilla farm to put there. Feel free to bulldoze and put a general mob farm in its place, but you could really build that anywhere else in that desert as well. If you happen to be playing with a mod that makes husks spawn in that structure without the need for sky access, 'I'd recommend scaling up ilmango's shifting floor witch farm.

@@TheRealWormbo I think there's a possibility that the Desert Pyramid meant to be a creeper farm and is in the wrong place; it should be at the world spawn point. Both are 21x21. The world spawn point is always a biome that rains while the desert doesn't have rain. No rain, no thunderstorms. No thunderstorms, no natural lightning. No lightning, no supercharged creepers. Plus fact that a mega nether portal is 23x23 makes me think four of them go around the desert pyramid rather conveniently.

You sir, you are just a beast. Still working on Java/single mode 1.20.1. Just one thing tho, many items get stuck on the border of the portal at Y=190 in the overworld for some reason (i guess its cause the mobs die in the nether, and the loot get teleported. But still, rly productive farm.

I built this on a friend's server, expecting it to flop, as every guardian farm I had built previously didn't work well. As soon as I put on the finishing touches and went to the killing chamber, within minutes I had more exp than I knew what to do with. You've earned my respect, a subscriber, and a like.
