Honestly- people think of minecraft geniuses as people Ilmango and RaysWorks (and they are incredible geniuses still) simply because their farm is larger and more complex. However, you are a different kind of genius. You have somehow given us multiple videos of farms that are so simple, anyone can build. Not only that, but you somehow increase speed AND reliability most of the time. In my opinion, that is true brilliance. I appreciate you doing all of these videos for us. They are amazing, well explained, and most importantly, like I said, simple.

The thing with their farms is, they are supposed to be fully automated and your only necessary interaction should be operating the on/off switch and emptying storage, once they got going. And that's completely fine. A technical server has a different scale at which it consumes shulker boxes, so a shulker shell farm that turns off at irregular intervals is absolutely not acceptable for their needs. All the complexity in the farm designs they use comes from the automatic shulker restocking that is simply necessary for them.

Firstly thank you Ian for your contribution to technical minecraft, it truly is appreciated, In my hardcore world I have (so far) built your stacking raid farm (which is what introduced me to your channel in the first place), your wither skeleton farm, your honey farm and now your shulker farm, I also will build your piglin barter farm your wool farm and finally your mob switch. My goal in this world is to absolutely obliterate the game while farming everything in the process, and in my learning journey i have realized you are the single best resource to learn from, your designs are truly amazing, always turning complex problems and solutions into relatively simple designs, always simplifying what you can. Your videos and explanations are second to none in my opinion, you make extremely concise to the point videos, absolutely no filler, simple to follow along while also explaining every detail, you credit other creators and link their resources in the description, provide additional material to the viewer and encourage us to try things out for ourselves and find the best solution for our specific use case and taste. *UPDATE* As of version 1.20.5, Shulker bullets CANNOT go upward through the scaffolding, greatly reducing the reliability. Removing the top scaffolding thats supposed to protect the shulker is the only way for this farm to work. Some basic research I've done says that people have had about 1000 shulker shells before the farm fails and needs restocking. Better than nothing!

You are the GOAT! I was wondering why the shulker TPed as soon as the farm started. Removed that piece of scaffolding, then after a few more failed attempts, managed to get another shulker into the chamber and it worked like a charm edit: actually be sure to place a button on the backside of the stair where the scaffolding should be, so that the shulker can't pick that spot to teleport to, turning it sideways making it unable to open and shoot its bullets. Learned that the hard way lol. It's unlikely the shulker chooses that exact spot to teleport to out of the hundreds of glass blocks, but it happened to me after under 1k shulker shells. (After doing some math) Given there are 2601 spawning spaces, plus the one without the button, I guess it's not suuuuuper unlikely, and my luck for when it happened wasn't horrible

A tip if your spawn chunks are in a jungle/mesa/desert: I found a small portion of a river biome to put the center of the farm with the golems in. The golems do not melt in a river biome, even though the rest of the farm is in my jungle spawn chunks.

Hi Ian! Thanks for this great guide, so simple to put together. I built this farm today to replace the shulker box I lost while building your peer-pressure Wither Skeleton farm (I only had 2 shulker boxes available after that!) The farm has been running for only a few minutes and has already produce 40 shells, really happy with the result. The only amendment the the design is the issue justintacy2022 commented about a month ago. The top scaffold completely bricks the farm and prevents it from working at all; removing the scaffold allows the farm to continue normally. Great work again as always Ian, I'm very grateful. EDIT: I built my walls using purple-tinted glass, along with using a purple banner. It seemed the most appropriate for a shulker farm!

I can confirm this farm is working perfectly. I built this farm in my 1.20.4 server and it works, i heard shulker noise was shooting by snow golem, he teleported and change to a brand new shulker. Firstly, thank you for your work on these elegant farms and well-made videos. I've used several, and they're all working great. Just built this one today and wanted to share some of my own experiences for anyone interested. -Took me about 5 hours total to prepare materials, find end city, build farm, and transfer shulker. -Should've double-checked (per the notes) the overworld portals link up to the killing chamber in the nether and not some other portals nearby, especially since it was close by to the world spawn and connected to my nether hub. -My world spawn was in a savannah, but as someone else mentioned, nearby rivers provide useable location given a roughly 20x20 working area. -Should've also made sure to light both sections of that middle portal, seeing it's split in two. -The obsidian platform in the end removed all rails I had placed once I went through the gateway, so I had to maneuver the carts as best I could. -I did have to go back and forth several times to get extra utility items (compass, splash potion of healing, minecarts, furnace minecart, coal, more levers/activator rails/powered rails, fishing rod, sticky blocks, extra glass/temp blocks) A bit rougher overall to build than some of the other ones, but for a relatively new world, it does the job well. Just like anything else, the effort makes the result more satisfying, and the results of your farms/tutorials is appreciated.

Farm been working great BTW, over 12,000 Shulker shells now :D But I would recommend suggesting not to turn on the activator rail on the nether side of the farm until [at least] after the reloading station is built to avoid a shulker being shipped off to the live farm by a curious [zombie] piglin. I turned my A-rail off after the first incident and have had no more issues. That way your biggest problem if a piglin klnocks the minecart is you have an extra shulker chilling in a minecart and need to activate the rail manually to reload the farm -- a much better alternative IMO to having to replace the shukler. So it's extremely rare, but a zombifieid piglin can make it's way into the nether side of the shulker farm even after everything is completely built and spawn-proofed. I'm not 100% sure how, but I just found a golden ingot in my box, today, and a rotten flesh in there yesterday, confirming my original sighting. (Makes 3 confirmed zombified piglins in 12k shells, so you definitely might see none.) Obviously this requires a player to be near the farm, but it's such a beautiful construction, you have to want to see it :) PS. I'm pretty sure they can't spawn on the nether side, as I tested with the chunk update speed set to 4096, and couldn't get one to spawn, so I think they're probably slipping thru from the overworld, possibly in very rare circumstances they can escape the portal just enough to clear the cooldown timer before touching it again. OR they could be regular zombies spawning on the top of the nether portals and falling down into the portal. I'm going to spawn proof the top layer of obsidian just in case.

This DOES WORK on 1.20.6 but... You have to break the scaffolding block above the Shulker due to a bug (learnt this from reading other comments) I did this and it worked and got 9 stacks of shulkershells before it stop working. I saw that there was a shulker that somehow made its way on top of the portal and I realized that because i broke the scaffolding above the Shulker, it was able to teleport to that block making it one block higher that it should have been. I killed both shulkers and reloaded it this time PLACING A BUTTON to where that scaffolding was and now it works and still hasn't stop working. I've afked for 24hrs now and got over 2 double chests. Ill make an update if it stops working but even if it stops working, it legit takes 2 mins to restock the shulker. I got over 2 double chests which is still is a pretty good return. I've seen a lot of replies saying it won't work or you need to make changes and do all sorts of things but its VERY SIMPLE. Replace the scaffolding with a botton. This scaffolding is shown at 14:30. The block under should be where the shulker is and the block where at scaffolding should be replaced with a button on the red glass. This is the only change I've made and its been working for 24+ hrs. I've seen others say that theirs dies and other problems with farm but they probably just built it wrong. Make sure to build it carefully, it will work. (Just bring a splash potion of regen or instant health regardless or whether it took damage or not) thats what i did both times and the shulkers never died. IT WORKS IN 2.20.6!!!!

I just finished building this farm and it works great. Another option for killing portal zombie piglins is powdered snow. I located my farm over a river biome, so I constructed a platform two blocks below the portal frames with a 3x3 hole in the middle filled with powdered snow. Below the powdered snow blocks are bottom slabs so that just the piglin's heads stick out, and the turtle egg is hovering in the air in the middle. Works like a charm. There's so many zombie piglins spawning that I built a collection system that filters out the flesh and keeps the nuggets. It's a mini gold farm, though I already have a mondo gold farm so it's just supplementary. Can't let all that gold go to waste, lol. Thanks for the tutorial and the simple yet effective farm. Edit: as a follow-up I was one of the unlucky ones whose farm broke after about a double-chest of shulker shells. Reloading it was fairly easy though, so at least I have practice doing that now too. I got bit by the pile-up in the backup area too, and kept wondering why the shulker I was sending to the overworld stayed in its spot after repeated attempts. Upon returning to the overworld, I had three shulkers waiting, one in the cart and two in the portal, lol. So I sent one into the farm and removed the other two. I left the restocking portal constructed and unlit in case I need to use it again.

For 1.21, break the scaffolding block at the top of the shulker duplication chamber after opening the waterlogged trapdoor, that scaffolding prevents shulker from hitting itself and makes the farm not work in 1.21, after removing it, it will start working normally again

This did work but the space left after breaking the scaffolding no longer blocks teleportation. You must place a button on the obsidian (just below the banner) and rotate the stair block so the flat side faces the portal.

@@rectangularcuboid true. Because the shulker might get tilted as a result. And it will break the farm because the bullets will stop going up. I had this issue earlier after I fixed it and had some tough time getting levitations trying to fix it. It's better to kill the shulker and use a backup shulker at this point. But it would be easy to build it beforehand.

Great tutorial and thanks. :D I can verify that this works well in 1.19.2 Special Note for Optifine users: if the the Smooth World option in performance settings is set to "yes" (default), this farm will only work when you're in your spawn chunk. Setting the option to "no" will allow your spawn chunk to load no matter where you are in the overworld, which will keep this farm producing tons of shulker shells while you build other things.

7:25 a little note here: if it rains, place a temporary block over the snow golems to prevent them from dying immediately. Once the scaffolding is installed, they should be safe.

Incredible tutorial as always. Just built this on a paper 1.20.4 server and seems to be working great. Only thing I can say is the material list felt like it left out a couple items for example in the nether you place 5 slabs and then break two but only account for the 3 not 5 and breaking 2 which got me slightly confused but i'm nitpicking. i actually tried this. witches only throw the potions during raids, and raids only last 40 min long, and when the raid ends, you need a new witch. the old one wont work. plus you need to get a witch to the end, or get the shulker to the overworld. it was a lot of hassle, and it didnt actually work well.

Watch the video where Etho fiddles with using healing or regeneration potions on shulkers and be disappointed. If you desperately want a single-dimension design to avoid transporting the shulker, you probably won't be able to avoid the additional complexity of an automated shulker restocking system. The chances of a shulker still being in range to decrease the duplication probability is just too high. Notably the chance to (not) spawn the new shulker applies *after* the original shulker already teleported away. Also, there's no chunk-loading in the end, other than via player presence. You'd have to "waste" time being near the farm if you built it next to an end city, just because you didn't want to spend time moving the shulker.

Great farm once again! heres my experience with it, build was super easy just gathered obsidians from end island, getting shulker to overworld was not that difficult (video provided great tips such as chunk positions etc) p.s coal minecart is genius. After 2 days farm worked perfectly, then I accidentally blew it up but best part is rebuild was easier, backup shulker mechanism is flawless and easy. I would recommend this farm to anyone just because it's that awesome! Thanks Ian!

Amazing, works perfectly, I thought the mechanics changed in 1.20.6 but it turned out to be one scaffolding block, I wonder if it's any less effective given the shulker can take damage now, but ideally it should be more than consistent enough when the shulker dupes that it gains it's health back, and worst case it's still somewhat easy to restock if needed. I feel like I owe you a comment now. I built this thing in my world and it was so simple and straight forward and is working like a charm. It’s been a few days and I have 5 double chests full of shulker shells which is honestly more than I’ll ever need. And that without the shulker dying. The only thing I did differently is the shulker transport. I used a honey block flying machine to get it to the end portal, since I find that easier, but I guess that could cause trouble with server lag sometimes.

This farm worked excellently well in 1.18.1. The design is simple but very effective and the video easy to follow so I didn't make any mistakes building the farm and after about 40 minutes I already have a double chest almost full of shulker boxes, which are extremely useful. Thank you very much for another fantastic design. It really is elegant.

For anyone wondering if this still works in 1.21 it does but you need to make a tiny adjustment. The scaffolding above the shulker in the duplicator will need to be replaced with a button or a opened fence gate. not sure how long until the shulker may need to be restocked but it at least works

Okay, I built this farm in version 1.21.1, and it works PERFECTLY fine. BUT (!) for those who don’t read the description and want to say, “It doesn’t work,” please read the description and check the video for the fix/update. I had two simple errors that caused the farm not to work: I placed one of the sand walls one block too far. I didn’t place the spawn chamber in the middle. Just double-check everything you do and apply the fix. Here’s how: Destroy the scaffolding in the killing chamber above the shulker. Place a dispenser in front of the shulker (where the glass is, but make sure it faces the shulker DONT SNEAK HERE! THE SHULKER ATTACKS YOU! place your cursor to the upper right edge!). Put an armor stand in the dispenser. Place a lever on the dispenser to push the armor stand into the shulker. Place a button (this is really important) under the banner. Now it works perfectly fine!

I made a backup of my world & then in creative went about making the farm. I could not figure out why the shulker refused to shoot it’s bullets. Spoiler: It’s because I set it to peaceful. It works great in 1.19.3!!

I think instant refers to the materials need most of all, so you don’t have to grind away for months to make the farm in the first place. The large amount of obsidian seems to be the worst of it, as it requires a diamond pick axe or lots of tedious water/lava placement.

@@Timelord79 Well, the "instant" part obviously doesn't refer to the time span since you started the world, but to the (relative) amount of time it takes to build the farm. And compared to versions with automated restocking, this design is indeed way easier to build. Also notice the way he handles the two teleportation steps in the shulker transportation: using rails into the end gateway and an activator rail at the side of the return portal instead of buttoning up the entire area and using a piston to manually push down the shulker into that portal. This video is a gold mine for ways to make your life easier.

I built this in 1.120.6 and for some reason the shulker in the spawn chamber doesn't fire the shulker bullets upwards and rather shoots it straight into the wall preventing it from duplicating

After coming back to use the farm in 1.21, the shulker just isn't duplicating. Were there any changes to shulkers? EDIT: the change was to the scaffolding mechanics, so just replace the scaffold above the shulker with a button, and you'll be rocking and rolling. Or just sitting AFK as the shells roll in, I guess.
