@travcollier7 ай бұрын
It is very elegant. A lot of the overcomplicating comes from the olden days when a trading hall was much more difficult to make. Back when villagers were born with their professions and trades locked in, you really did need efficient ways to breed, sort, and dispose of massive numbers. Since the villager update, I've been pretty much doing a simple design where every villager is just standing in a 1x2 stall on a bed. There are a few tricks to be aware of, but it is so easy I haven't bothered with anything else... Except for adding some 3 villager mini-iron-farms into it. Honestly, keeping it on golems only spawning where you want is the biggest headache anyway.

I would suggest using scaffolding instead of the usual stairs for access to the trading hall itself, as this prevents villagers from occasionally entering the trading area and claiming a job without being trapped inside a hole. In addition, this makes a one-way door such that villagers who aren't supposed to fall down into a jobsite hole (such as baby villagers or farmers) can escape with some minor player interaction (breaking the jobsite and opening the trapdoor). Overall, this trading hall and breeding method is one of the best and by far, the simplest.

I imagine if someone wanted a real trading hall rather than a trench in the ground they could just build up stalls above ground that the villager could climb up and jump into. I use this concept too when moving villagers in long distances. I just plop down a job site block to a fairly separated villager, wait till he adopts the job, break the job site, move a little, place down job site and repeat. The good thing about this method is the terrain height is not a big problem. As long as there's a way for them to get to the job site, they will follow you.

Just a note about this trading hall design, be carful about pillager patrols spawning near your villager setup, without blocks above the villagers in the holes, the pillagers have clear line of fire to shoot and kill and the villagers you worked so hard to get the trades right. I haved used this trading hall design for every new world i've made, and pillager patrols are the only weakness, (besides lightning ofc lol), i have lost a whole trading hall to this (upwards of about 40 diff villagers O_O), and it was totaly my fault, i stress that you cover up your villagers as soon as you lock in the trades you want, a slab works best

Hint: follow the example here with the minecart setup, and don't deviate! It's frustratingly easy to get your zombie stuck, and quite hard to get it to move again. You must have the accelerator rails for once the cart is moving and the powered rail by the village sideways with a dirt block. If you do get the cart stuck pushing might work, or you can dig two blocks below and get it to drop onto a new rail.

This design is incredible in its simplistic model. I incorporated this into a proper village trade hall and it's so much easier to have a trade hall that can convert villagers at any time and also replace bad trades very easily. coupled with a villager breeder a proper trade hall can be set up and in full use within hours.. given my trade hall has 75 villagers in it
@BYtheHORNsGaming3 жыл бұрын
Here are a couple additions I've come up with while using this design that while not necessary do optimize a lot of the zombification process of the farm by way of shortening the time to both cure and zombify the villagers as well as conserve some components needed to cure. Breaking the blocks behind the villagers heads and replacing them with iron bars, as well as the blocks to the sides of the villagers heads will help in speeding up the curing process without having to make room for beads. It is worth noting though that when you want to zombify a villager you should place to temporary blocks at the front of the stalls where the iron bars are to have them connect. This will stop the zombie from looking through the gaps at the villagers beside it. Alternatively or additionally you can have beds up on the surface centered between 4 villager cells while curing is taking place as the checks for curing accessories are not hindered by it being claimed by another villager just that it is within a 9x9x9 cube from where the zombie villager is located. So even a fenced off bed will contribute to the speed of curing. Depending on how early game you are when you start to zombify Villagers a good way to conserve potions of weakness (which is good if you are low on the various ingredients required to make it, blaze powder for brewing or just want to be efficient with your materials) is to break the blocks to the side of the villagers heads and aim the potion for a central position to maximize the spread of the splash. You can then replace the side blocks (or iron bars if you followed the first tip) without any risk of letting the villager escape. This allows you to have one splash potion cure up 4 villagers if you are precise enough with your throw. But generally you'll hit 2-3 without much trouble so long as you hit on top of a block between the villagers. If you were fortunate to have caught a zombie with ability to hold items, I'd definitely recommend giving it a stone or iron sword as when converting villagers to zombie villagers will now only take 4 hits as opposed to 5 to kill and subsequently convert the villager. And finally while more of an obvious addition with the 1.17 update then a tip. Adding a lightning rod somewhere just outside the village will prevent lightning strikes from hitting the villagers and converting them to witches and remove the need for a roof 4 blocks above the cells.

about the curing villagers part. i built the trading hall, but villagers are standing on floors instead of working stations, then i use slabs to trap them. then i would lure a baby zombie with a weapon or item i throw to it(which should stop it from despawning) to the hall and block the entrance, let it become a serial killer, then i would go back, use anyway i can to trap the zombie, cure all the villagers(since they are standing close i can save a lot of potions), and restart the process. this way, i can trade with unbelieveable prices, and still no need to build rails or worry about zombie eye contacts or needing to find a nametag.

I made it one block deeper. When you put a trapdoor on the seeling infront of the villager, it wont fall out, you can see him fully and if you want to release him for some reason, no problem. reason f.E. zombifying. Just place a boat in front of the villager. lead a zombie into the hall. When he´s in the boat, realease the villager, by opening the trapdoor. Push F3 B for the hitboxes, so you can kill the zombie and not the villager after the zombification. Now you can heal him. Also, if you just lead a zombie into the hall it will zobify all villagers at once and you can save time. This is by far the coolest and easiest Design for a villager Farm. Thanks man!!!!! I found that if the trapdoor is still closed, I could not put a block over the villager's head. Then I opened the trapdoor, and found that if I close it again, the villager's feet remains standing on the job site block -- i.e. I cannot reroll the job site by destroying it, since the villager would immediately escape. So I put a stone slab just above the head instead. It protects the villager from hostile mobs, as well as prevents more villagers from falling in, as well as protects against lightning. Is that a good permanent measure?
@ianxofour3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cosmia! Great observations and question. I do not recommend using top slabs over the villager because it allows trapped villager to socialize with other villagers that could otherwise be searching for an unclaimed job site in the trading hall. I recommend using a full block instead over the villager's head, as shown in the video, or any other block that will block the view (such as bottom slabs). You can raise the villager to be on top of the trapdoor again by using the water bucket trick at 5:52. Also, lightning affects anything within 4 blocks of distance (including below it) of where it strikes, so a protective roof over the trading hall should be at least that height. Let me know if you have any more questions.
@CosmiaNebula3 жыл бұрын

ive been trying this out in creative but in bedrock and there are 2 differences I'm noticing. 1 the zombies are able to attack the villagers. not a big deal just sleep and cover them up later. 2.the villagers dont seem to fall in consistently/ cant pathfind to it because ive noticed some try to but then they switch to another job site after standing next the hole for a bit. the fix that worked for me is you can nudge them in when they get close to the hole. placing jobsite one at a time helps with the delinking job. super sick design

If anyone is curious, this works to get villagers into the hole on bedrock. I think it also stops other mobs from entering the hole, but zombies can still attack them. I haven't checked, but I don't think it regulates breeding, since villagers seem to claim beds, even if they can't get to them . (Don't quote me on those last two)

Minecraft community needs more guides for very simple farms like this (I know this is not farm, but my statement stays the same). Videos like "iron farm 1m items/hours", "slime farm 2m items/hour" take a lot of views, but no one really builds them. We don't need that much items. On big multiplayer server with server engine like spigot/papermc there are additional limitations. More strict entity cramming limit, mobs can despawn quicker, additional limitation with minecart hoppers pushing. Without these limitations few big farms can lag the server or entirely fill mob spawn limit for all players. No one considers these kind of conditions. On maybe not so much players play here, I don't know...
