The tabs on the sides do come off just be careful they are a little secured but I think they are meant to be taken off but are so tightly bonded together to make it sturdy. Another addition is that the Birch Tree actually comes apart. Only on the top and bottom of the wood.

I never thought of the interaction portion of the sets I was thinking it needed a Nether Portal that looks like blocks and not like a flat background. It looks like standing cardboard a little bit and I think the Nether Portal doors didn't need to be spring loaded it could of just been a purple transparent plastic piece. That's why I'm collecting Charged Creeper packs for the Obsidian blocks.
