Diamond and Netherite armor have the same Armor value, yes, but how much damage it protects against decreases the more damage is inflicted. The Armor Toughness statistic negates this effect by protecting against the large amounts of damage too. Each piece of Netherite armor has one more Armor Toughness point than the Diamond counterpart. This means a full set of Netherite armor has four more points of Armor Toughness than a full set of Diamond armor. You're more likely to survive large sources of damage (e.g. explosions) with Netherite armor than Diamond, even without any enchantments. Netherite armor doesn't lose durability when the player is hurt by fire. Diamond armor does. Each piece of Diamond armor has 10 points of enchantability, Netherite has 15. This means Netherite armor is more likely to get better enchantment from an Enchantment Table than Diamond armor, and more levels. My source is the Minecraft Armor wiki. Something funny for you. Once when I was 7 playing Minecraft I had a house with a dog in creative and I switched to survival once by mistake and I was high up flying I died and lost the house and my dog which was the main reason I was sad then I was crying in my bed the whole night and I still thought about it shedding tears till I was 9 and I thought to myself (my dog must be so hungry and lonely :( my dog must be so sad with no one to help him :( ) XD
