The redstone part would be easy for people who know about it, the lever -> button vice versa, is EXACTLY how I build it. Although I have never built a lie detector before, it's just a dispenser with non stackable and stackable randomizer, with the cake, being the lie, and the book being the truth. Although I have never really put any specific item into those, it's always Redstone dust and a clock for the non stackable.
