I read this for the first time when I was 9, when I beat the ender dragon in my first successful Minecraft survival world. I'd worked hard for what I got and was satisfied with my victory and triumph but with no reward other than beating the game. Because this poem had no significance to me I didn't consider it a reward. When I was 9. When I was 9 I lived life hanging out with friends and playing Minecraft on servers like Mineplex. There was no stress in my life. I had no true knowledge about how important life and death is and about how friends come and go. It was all about about myself and I. Years pass. Grades pass. 4th grade. 5th grade. 6th grade. 7th grade. I took a break from Minecraft in 5th grade as I saw it as boring. Then came the stress of bullying and new friends once middle school came along. I still didn't have the knowledge about how important life is because of how beforehand it was all about me myself and I. I managed to find myself a friendgroup I enjoy being around but there's always the guy that acts like he's better than everyone else, threatens people for his own gain, and I had experienced enough when it comes to that. I decided to play Minecraft again and eventually I started a new world just like when I was 9. I was in 8th grade and I still am. When the time came to beat the ender dragon I was prepared enough for what I was about to go through, but I wasn't as prepared for the end poem. I cried. I was pretty ashamed I didn't care about it in the first place. It really made me feel accomplished and relieved but that poem... man, nostalgia hits me even when I didn't get to experience the whole thing. Thank you Mojang, for making many memories of a blocky game that will live on in our hearts for many thousand years to come.

I first got this game on my 13th birthday, almost 5 years ago in 2014. I turn 19 in less than a month, at the time of writing this. I have put so much time, effort, and care into this game. And I wouldn't trade any of it, for the world. this game is taught me so much, and allowed me to express my creativity in a way no other outlet would. So yes, thank you Markus "Notch" Persson and everyone at Mojang for creating this absolute masterpiece of a game, that we can all enjoy for years to come. And thank you Microsoft for taking a game you bought, and putting enough care into it to keep us coming back, even after the Revenge meme died.

I have been playing since 2011. I First saw this when I was 8 after I beat the ender dragon. I always skipped over it and never really understood it. But now, 13, undergoing multiple stressors in my life, I just sat there and cried. I cried for 12 minutes straight. But it wasn't sad crying. Or happy crying. I don't know what it was, but it was something. Something, or someone calling to me from the distant universe. Maybe I'll understand it when I get older, I don't know. This game is really something.. my friend have some depressive disorder and this game took her to the next level of happiness and fun.. Im glad I helped her in playing and finishing the game and showing her the end credits(it was really worth it).. The day after that she cannot play computer games anymore.. like she cant use some gadgets(phones, pcs, laptop). Ill be hoping that she comes back strong and have some fun again. Minecraft is a nice community game and not all people realizes this even our own parents. This took everything to another level of community.

I recently realized that though I had been playing Minecraft for 7+ years, I had never defeated the ender dragon by myself on my own survival world before. I've always done it on creative, with friends, or on a server. I've read this poem before, but didn't understand the contents as I was too young. Now, after officially defeating the dragon in my very own survival world, I read this. It means so much more when it's just me and my efforts that brought me this prize.

i always skipped this poem. But a couple months ago someone told me to read it and i did. It changed my life. I used to believe i had no meaning and that nothing mattered but this really made me rethink that. Reading it for the first time had me crying. It was so so powerful. And now looking at it again it made me tear up. I never expected something this beautiful to come out of a video game, but what better game than minecraft. A game where you make ur own story. I first found Minecraft when I was around 5-6. I remember playing the Pocket Edition in creative mode and just building whatever I could think of. I vaguely remember building statues of my family and friends, creating castles out of diamonds and gold, and saying to my friends that I built it out of diamonds of I found legitimately. Then one day, I was on a party with my parents that their friends had arranged. There was other kids there too, and one of them, who was a couple of years older than me. I watched as he played Minecraft on his phone, but something was different, everything was dark and scary, and he seemed stressed. I couldn’t understand why. I asked him why he wouldn’t fly, and he told me: “A can’t, this is survival.” This was when I first discovered survival mode, and it was like discovering a whole new world. And this memory was so strong, that I even remember what I ate for dinner that night, 9 YEARS ago. It’s strange how you can remember something just because Minecraft, your dear friend was there with you.

Anyone who plays this game is part of the community. The beauty of minecraft is that it can be anything you want it to be. Each individual’s experience with this game is completely unique from everyone else’s. Every individual player is connected to every other player through the fact that no two of them played it the same way. Creative mode megabuilders, survival mode speedrunners, adventure map creators, moderators and members of massive online servers. All of them play it in completely different ways, but its still the exact same game.

I really like how the credits break the forth wall a bit, like referencing when you start a new world and do it all over again or die-ing multiple times but your never actually dead. I like how they talk about the player dreaming of all sorts of things that you do in Minecraft. I love that. When you play Minecraft, you are writing your own adventure. You choose what you do in your world and you do it.

Today, the 10th of April 2020, I beat Minecraft in survival mode for the first time. I've been playing for around eight years, and I was always scared of the dragon and the endermen. But, with my Power IV bow and six stacks of arrows, I beat it. I beat the game. I collected the egg with a piston and hopped in the portal. I read the full end poem and credits without looking away. I was mesmerised. I felt happy, sad, and proud. I love Minecraft, it's creators, and people like Stampy and PopularMMOS who caused me to buy the game in 2012. And, deep down, you know that you love Minecraft, too.
