Easier method that can also be done in survival: place the cartchest above you block of choice. Place a piston above the cart facing down (towards cart) activate the piston. This will push the cart into the block. This can also be used with normal carts to create chairs.

A good, survival alternative to this method to this involves setting the minecart down with the track underneath it broken, and using a piston to push a block into it's position from above.

you can do this without a command block. simply place a rail with the minecart chest on top of it, then put a piston 2 blocks up with the block you want the chest to be hidden in between the minecart and the piston, power the piston and walla you got a secret chest in survival.

you could also hide the chest behind glass and make it unclickable until you complete some task, and then remove the glass and make it clickable again, or change the glass from red (unclickable) to green (clickable). yeah i know there are better and easier ways to do something like that, like hiding a chest behind iron bars, and removing them with a command block, but it would still look cool :D also you could make it so you can´t open the chest until you navigate it on minecart tracks to a certain location etc., where the minecart track triggers a command block that replaces the chest

There's actually another way that you can do in legit survival. Basically, build up a 3 block high tower. Then, put two blocks(any kind) on one horizontal side. Then, place a block directly underneath the farthest-reaching one right on the ground. After that, put rails and a minecart with a chest on it. Then break the block and let the minecart settle on the ground. Then, put a downward facing piston on the block above the minecart. Put the block that you want to camouflage the chest on it. Finally, power the piston. The piston should push the block into the minecart. Then, break all blocks except the minecart/ camo block. Then, surround the minecart with blocks except the side that you open it from. Then, place a trapdoor. Open the trapdoor and right click to access the chest.

This also works in 1.7.2 and probably in later versions leading to 1.7.9 but you will need to use /summon MinecartChest ~ ~-1 ~.025 {CustomName:"Name"} instead. The chest will stick out too much if you use .05 trust me.

There's an easier way to do this, which does not require a tediously long command. Just get the minecart item from your inventory and place it down. (Yes, you can use an anvil to rename it). Then, you use /setblock ~ ~-2 ~ [Block Name] (since you will not want to move the minecart) and right click the block. It should have a minecart chest. :) I don't know if the minecart will show or not though. Please reply if it does. This is just a simpler way to do this.

Here is another way: yet again cover on all sides (best with trap doors) except top. Put any block above the chest and a piston above that block. Activate the piston, place your trap doors and anything on type my choice being flowerpot. And voila you have a block inside of a chest and the Chest is still accessible. Not as hidden as this one but can be done without having to use cheats to acquire command blocks.
