Great video, surprised this has a low amount of views (EDIT: Nvm, this is your first video). Also, were those three middle capes of the 5 you showed when talking about the first Minecon real? What happened to them? Did Mojang change their minds to only give players the red creeper cape in 2011 and moved the pickaxe cape to the next year, removing/never adding the 3 other ones?

There was a pole for which cape would be given out for attending Minecon 2011. The creeper cape won, but the pickaxe cape got so close that they decided to use it for the 2012 Minecon.

What IS so special about Minecon capes? Yeah, they're rare, but not the RAREST capes you can find. And it's not that the only way to get one is by buying an entire account now. If you ask someone what cape they would want if they had infinite money, they would probably say "A Minecon 2011 cape" before they would say "A Cobalt cape" or "A Translator cape".
