Only a few youtubers actualy use their brain and figure out the solution and although you don't need to be a genius you do need to have the ability to think correctly (Like you and me and most other viewers)

The darkness hurts you in the deep dark. The lore is that the deep dark dimension was meant to be a prison, it was made by a group of powerful wizards. It was meant to hold darkness itself as a prisoner, which it does. Darkness "The prisoner" feeds on anyone that enters his domain.

Biggest tip for Deep Dark: Magnum Torches They will prevent all mobs from spawning within a very large chunk of blocks. Make 4 or 5 of them and you can keep the entire spawn area safe from the OP mobs.

Hey etho, big fan of the series. You guys actually got me to try my first Feed The Beast mod! that said, here's some advice on the deep Dark, since I've set up several permanent bases there: 1. Mobs can spawn anywhere, even in the light. Therefore, magnum torches are your friend, and ethereal glass makes a great gateway to seal off safe areas. 2. Ores spawn in normal concentrations. That means diamonds are below level 16, lava-flood is around 11, and draconium is found at y=8 and below. 3. Moderate darkness is fine - I've never been hurt by it, despite spending time at light levels of 0. It seems like you have to go several blocks in to start taking damage. Allowing light levels to drop to 1 between torches will allow you to spread them out more and cover more area. Also, lava is a good alternative for long stays. 4. Veinminer is your friend at low levels when looking for good ores. 5. MAGNUM TORCHES ARE YOUR FRIEND. Hope this helps!

Some things you should know etho 1. The reactor input port has a gui so you can place stuff in the gui instead of hooking up a chest with transfer node 2. You should start growing yellorium (reactor material ) crops 3. Adding moss to your bolts would make bolts regenerate with time 4. the floor below the cavern in deep dark is rich in ores 5. also try increasing the size of reactor . IIRC, liquid glowstone source blocks levitate unless there's a block above them, so you'd have to place them beneath a block near ground level, and allow them to flow outwards on the sides and upwards.

I once played on a server where creeper blasts didn't destroy blocks. It seemed like a good idea, but the game ended up feeling lacking. My point is, risk and death are necessary to give things worth. I've struggled to put my finger on what this series lacks, but I believe it to be a sense of adventure and risk. I'm a survival/(adventure) mode purist, and building the wrong pipes or opening chance cubes isn't the same as trying to temper a nether fortress into a farm. Yes, dying in minecraft is brutal but it's that risk which makes reaching those ores so fufilling. Etho, my hope in this lengthy spam is: do not be discouraged. You are awesome at minecraft and a good person throughout. People love to share in your hardships. It makes for great episodes, in my opinion, when chaos presents like this. Conquer the deep dark!

Etho, the main reason you'd want to go to the Deep Dark is that the ore spawns are insane. Once you go below that cobblestone layer in the massive cave there's ores all over the place. It's good for getting a huge amount of resources really quickly. Just make a really good Tinker's Construct hammer and mine away. You'll have more resources than you know what to do with. Like Yellorium for the reactor for example. Also, a tip. Unless they've changed it you get double the ore if you pulverize yellorium ore before smelting it. Hope this helps! :D

Also, this is what I like to do in the deep dark. Dig down all the way to bedrock and just start veinmining stone. That will upgrade your pick a bunch and also reveal all the tons of ores down there. Try it next time! With torches

survival tips for the deep dark; 1. the shadows will kill you, regardless of armor. so stay in the light 2. mob spawning ignores light levels, so use magnum torches or chandeliers (items that prevent mob spawn in an area). 3. those giant holes, though rich in ores, will lead through the bedrock, and into the void. 4. there are interesting dungeons out there, namely bedrock trees and multi-colored fortresses. 5. ranged weapons help.

Etho just setup a quarry around your spawn level in the deep dark (to avoid going down to all the mobs). The Ender Quarry will chunk load itself and the chunk it's currently working in. Very little lag. Use a tesseract to power it and get recources back. You can give the Ender Quarry upgrades like silk and speed but that requires quite some power to keep running. There are a few structures in the deep dark you can go explore but otherwise not much to see.

Hey Etho, for power there is a mod called solar flux. It allows you to create solar panels that generate power slowly at early tiers, but eventually create a significant amount of redstone flux (RF) for power. As for your food situation, what I did was make the same wheat to toast to bread with the convection chamber upgrade in the redstone furnace.

Aside from the normal ores and all the ones you get from sieving, you can also get the Thaumcraft shard ores, whatever they're called. Those shards can otherwise only be obtained very rarely, or through manual hammering of specific things. If it removes all the cobble, finding the nodes becomes easier, too. Though you need to bring light.

Etho, the deep dark has temples with loot in it and the shadows will kill you when you walk or fly around in the dark, so having torches, or anything that makes light is the only safe zone you would have against the shadows. The light is your path. There are a lot of Ores in it too.

When pause confessed he didnt know what the arrows were for on NEI... Seems Etho doesnt know either. He forgot to read the ingame NEI description for deep dark portal. And nice goin blaming pause for a messy smeltery, when your AE system is far messier. You do realize i hope that every single iron helmet takes up a slot on your storage disks? So 250 different iron helmets eat up over 4 storage disks. Use a storage bus with a fuzzy expansion card on a trashbin. Make it store full iron armor, gold, chain and leather. Give it a high priority, and any new armor to arrive in your AE system will get stored in the trashbin.

Thats not very usefull seeing as they have like 5k of iron gravel ore. They would do much better to automate the processing of that with hammers all the way down to dusts, then pulverizing and smelting it. Also, its a bit tricky to setup autocrafting with armor that is partially damaged. You inevitably end up with a large bulky system that nets you very little in return. Better to use the resources for such a autocrafting setup and simply produce more dusts.

If you want to do any serious long-term exploration in the Deep Dark, you'll need some way of spreading a lot of light cheaply, or make a pair of Leggings of the Burning Mantle from Thaumic Tinkerer, which causes you to emit light when worn and active. One way to get a fair amount of light near the ceiling is to get a bucket of Energized Glowstone and let it spread along the ceiling. If placed properly, you can use a single bucket to cover a large area, though only Beef's flight abilities would allow them to prep the area properly at the moment.

theres a much higher percent to get ores from gravel and you also get more types of ores. Its also easier to make and easier to turn into ingots

That's (I believe) not what he meant. He was trying to say that Etho should smash the gravel ORES, not the gravel itself. By doing this you have quite a high chance of getting more of the ore. ( You would smash the gravel ore into sand ore pieces and would combine four of those to get a sand ore and so on, in the process you almost always end up with more that four sand and dust ore pieces.

I've only watched the beginning of this video so far but to not die from shadows, stay in the light and ores are deeeeeeeper, oh and you will me mobs with like 5000hp and can kill you in one hit even with full p4 zivesio armour so BE CAREFULL ETHO!

Please like so Etho can see this. Etho when you get power sorted out efficiently make a digital miner from mekanism and place it in the deep dark and filter what it mines to any item that has the word ore in the name so coal, iron, redstone, gold and diamond ore.

Etho for your purified crystal maker for AE, you need to lower the redstone signal by one block. Right now it is receiving bud level power. That's why it didn't turn off.

I always thought the Deep Dark sounded sketchy; this really proved why in spades. Glad you all were able to recover your stuff. And good on you for figuring it out fast Etho. Also, props for speed crafting the portal! I hate those ingots. Are you going to consider trying for the Pseudo-Inversion Sigil now? If you do... please get better armor first.

I am probably not the first to say either of these but firstly to repair your tools you need to use the ingot from which the head of the tool was made, meaning that in order to to repair your pick you need to put it in a tool forge with aluminum ingots and to repair your crossbow you need to use enderium or flame string. And secondly you can't keep getting on Beef's case about food because you did Cooking with Etho segments in Terrafirmacraft.
