One time in the 3rd zone I was searching for chaos emeralds, I didn't have enough rings to proceed so I ended up trying to back track to get rings, I then ended up getting the emerald one act later.

Ok, so its simple, use this to speedrun, or rush: Break every wall in Green Hill and hope you get lucky. Press the purple buttons and rush to the doors in Chemical Plant. Check every hole and look at the ground that leads up to a special stage in Sky Sancutary and hope you get lucky. Beat Eggman mode, which has the easiest special stage ever, bc failing wont telaport you back. There, I said it. Oh and getting purple is a pain, I SPENT 3 HOURS LOOKING!!! And purple is the only stage I failed and got telaported back first try. :(

Not actually, some chunks of some areas (and sometimes the whole act) are randomized. So u just have to find the right chunk and u can find the emeralds there, nice vid tho!
