Left click to throw the "bobber" into the water and wait. When you see the the "bobber" drop down into the water and make a splash noise that's when you hit left click again to get an item. On Lifeboat you can get an item around every 10 sec. One thing to note: If you're fishing rod will not work, logout and log back into the sm and you should be able to fish.
