Etho, try to make a raised cover for your chimney's (chiminies, chimini?) Have an airblock above the chimney, and a supported block above that to block the rain/snow.

Etho I have really good news you can craft pistons and dispensers in Terrafirmacraft you have to make a vanilla cobble generator and then mine the cobble and use it for the vanilla recipes so you could dispense iron into you blast furnace or make some crazy red stone thing with pistons hope this helps

YOU CAN HAVE HORIZONTAL CHIMNEY! Etho doesn't need to have a straight shaft for air flow at forge. Snow doesn't fall sideways.

Etho, you can skip the anvil. When you have an unshaped metal and it is liquid (after pulling it out of the crucible) right click the liquid metal and it will bring up a casting interface to pour into the pick mold, hope this helps! :)

The interface is drawn with a full chimney in mind, thats why its not maxed out. I usually throw an extra coal on top since odds are youre going to need it before it despawns anyway, and you almost always need an extra coal

If you want to keep rain or snow from coming through your chimneys, you can put a trap door at the top which will keep it "open" to the sky but also block precipitation.

I know many mods that do have a way to get books will usually make it result from a simple recipe or just give you it as a starter item, but I really think it would be a better design to have to acquire pages of that guide from doing things throughout the world--mob killing or NPC interaction, or even by fulfilling achievements (sort of a Thaumonomicon approach, I guess).

Great ep, jst 2 things to say 1, put a plank across ur chimney ( tfc plank not vanilla plank ) that stops the rain and snow coming down :) and 2 i believe if u fill the ingot mold with liquid steel and right click it u can use it to fill the pick mold that way but not sure as ive not tested it yet :) hope this helps and keep it up etho

you are able to put trapdoors in the chimney of forge, it doesn't mess with it and it will keep the snow from forming and putting out the fire. might be able to do that for all your chimneys as well.

Etho, the reason you can't skip the forging section with your pick and liquefy straight into a pick mould is because the tool must be forged for work hardening to occur, if you did do the liquefy method of yours the tool would have inferior hardness properties to a forged tool.

Hi Etho, If you put the liquid steel into the ceramic mold, you can right-click the mold and fill the tool mold with the liquid steel. It worked for me in lower metal tier, but I think it should work for tier 4 too. :D

You need a bellow for the blast furnace, you don't need to add extra coal if you're quick enough. just keep hitting the bellow, the residual heat will let you get all the pig iron out

Etho, you can put hatches in the chimneys of your smeltery. It'll still count as an 'open' air block, so your oven can keep going, and snow doesnt come through :D

EthosLab Only castable metals can be poured into toolhead casts. Steel-grade iron MUST be worked into shape. Melting it down should actually return it to wrought iron levels.

Welcome, Etho, to the steel age. The trick now is to actually get the motivation needed for progressing further. Not much gained after this, only slightly faster and more durable tools. This is the point in my current TFC single-player world (started shortly after you started LP'ing TFC), where I lost most of my drive. TFC is very tech tree from the get go, many steps to advance through, but after steel there's not much to strive for. I'm curious as to how you'll meet this challenge :)

Don't know if its been said or not yet, but the pick molds only hold up to a certain tier. Iron and above cant be used in a pick mold, so you HAVE to use the anvils. It's to make it more grindy :P

The tree above the chimne is good there so grab 2 leave blocks and place it 3 blocks above the vhimne and snow wont fall near the furnace, yes I tried and it worked

tier 5 and 6 are basically too rare to really make tools out of, as they require a very rare ore(nickel). Which only spawns in gabbro.

if you need 20 block bricks and 5 bricks per block brick and 4 bricks per pit kiln, its 5 pit kilns for 20 bricks which will make 4 brick blocks. 20/4=5, so you need 5x5 pit kilns , 25 total pit kilns for a full one. just started watching the video, sorry if he figures this out later

etho if you want to make more food try and find a jungle and make sure you take ropes because then you can bring home a chicken if they are yellow they are a chick if they are white they're a teen and if they have very large feathers coming off them then they are fully grown, the reason im saying this is because you can get eggs off them to make cooked egg!

I can't remember which Terrafirmacraft u-tuber worked this out... but when making steel leave the blast furnace running for 4 minutes 49 seconds then pump the bellows really hard and it'll melt the ore.. should use less charcoal. I've sorta tried this.. leave for about 4 minutes 20 then pump the bellows 10 times. From 6 x 25 unit hematite I got 5.3 ingots, but I did run out of surplus charcoal on top of the furnace a couple of times which may have been the cause of the loss. I've now gotta go find some more graphite as I can't remember where I found it last time.

Etho! Trapdoors are considered airblocks! "The Forge like the fire pit benefits from having air above it in a 3x2x3 area. (WxHxL) Unlike it's counterpart the Forge requires an open path to the sky. It should also be noted that the Forge considers a trap-door like air. You can use the forge to convert sand into glass (it takes a long time and requires very high temp). Hey etho, I think you might not need an anvil for the steel pick. you saw how you could collect molten steel in the ingot mold, But not the pick. So maybe you have to right click the liquid steel in the ingot mold to pour it in the pick mold, like how you had to when you started melting bisbronze in the pit kiln. Hope you see this and that it helps :)
