Rasplin I reccomend using green maps (Item frame maps) or a texture pack to make all green concrete bright lime with no shadows, so you can remove the background easily

I would also recommend trying out texture pack with sea lanterns/glowstone painted to green and standing on barriers, really helps with removing unwanted shadows

For cutting out player I recommend using the Polygonal Lasso tool instead of the Magic Wand. It’s more accurate even though it takes a bit longer

In this case there isn't really much point in using Polygonal Lasso tool since there is already a green screen background, It'll actually probably be way less accurate due to photoshop's automatic correction, you might as well just manually cut out the character using the selection tool if you're willing too take more extra time

For thumbnails where the background is more diverse though, I do recommend using the Polygonal Lasso tool, It's a lot better than using the Magic Wand tool usually
