To be fair, I support this move. Digital clocks are just straight up better. Fast to read at a glance, tells you the exact time, more visible for people with vision issues... And as someone who mostly now uses digital clocks, it always takes a second for me to process an analog clock because I'm just not used to them anymore, but I'm never not going to be familiar with numbers.

As an adult in the UK i can confirm that I once met someone in sixth form who didn't understand an analogue or digital clock - she'd ask for the time and you'd say it and she'd respond with 'is that close to lunch time?' or 'is that near home time?' I think the only reason she understood how to even get into class every day is that someone else dropped off at school and then she just followed people she recognised from one class to the next. Absolute specimen.

@kerys_2009_c2 ай бұрын
The short stick is the hour, the long stick is the minute. For the minute stick each number is x 5. So if it’s on 1, it means 5 minutes. If the minute stick is before the 6, which is half past the hour, then people usually read it as the minutes past an hour, e.g if the hour stick is just after 6 and the minute stick is on 4, then it’s twenty minutes past 6 or 6:20. If the minute stick is on a number past 6, people typically read it as how many minutes it is until the next hour. You count in 5s backwards from the 12 to figure out the number of minutes, e.g if the hour stick is almost on 8 and the minute stick is on 10, there are ten minutes left until 8. You can still read it by counting in 5s forwards from the 12, e.g the minute stick is on ten, 10x5 means it’s fifty minutes into the hour and therefore there are ten minutes left. The little lines between each number represent 1 minute, and the minute stick will pass through these faster than the hour of course. The hour stick will pass slowly between each number which represents a new hour as the 60 minutes go by to the next one. Also, they’re called hands, not sticks, I just thought that might be clearer lol (🤞🤞). Oh and also if both hands are on one number, it’s exactly that hour!
@bonghittaz15022 ай бұрын
Lads just look out the fucking window it's not hard. 🕐 the little dial is the hour hand if you get confused just take note of the minute hand and look again in a few min to see which dial moved. the longer dial is the minute hand it moves once a minute. so 🕖 is 7°clock and if you dont know if that's 7 in the morning or afternoon then look out then window. 🕢 that would be 7:30 or half past 7 because the minute dial is half way past 7 on the clock face so its only got another half of the clock face to go until it's 8°clock.

for anyone who wants to know how to read an analogue clock: you've got 12 numbers on the face that count for 12 hours in total. The short arm counts hours, the long arm counts minutes. Because the clock goes up to 12, you can count the total minutes by doing 12*5 which is 60-- that way, you can look at whatever number the minutes arm points to on the face, multiply by 5 and you've got whatever minute it is right now (e.g. 6 is halfway around and means 30 minutes, 9 is three quarters of the way around and means 45 minutes). If the minutes arm is pointing at 12 (top of the clock), then that means it's the full hour. As a visual example, on the face of the clock you might have 🕝- short arm on the 2, long on the 6 which means 2:30. The shorthands you see on analogue clocks at every quarter (notches or numbers) will stand for every 15 minutes, or three hours. :)
