DeathSwap is a PvP minigame that pits you against an opponent in survival Minecraft. After random intervals, you and your opponent will swap positions. Whoever dies first loses. Make sure you have a spectator or the game won't work!

Found out about this five years later. First thing I thought about was red stone obsidian trap using anvils to circumvent the 5 second invincibility timer and using obsidian to make it harder to escape.

Sethbling's Death Swap was ported to Bukkit. The Bukkit "Death Swap" plugin lets you play deathswap in a Bukkit server without the redstone/command block structure and, if I remember well, it allows to play more than 2 people at time in pair numbers. Check the bukkit forum for more info.
