Very nice performance comparison. I usually hunt in recovery speed 3 or 4, because I believe in moving slowly and methodically when detecting. I bought my Nox 600 for $500 1-1/2 years ago on a super deal from a guy whose wife found out he bought it without her permission!😱 I was there to rescue him, and ultimately liked it so much that I bought an 800 this past summer on the veteran discount plan. I keep my 6” coil on the 600 and interchange the 11” & 15” on the 800. Love both machines, and rarely use the advanced settings on the 800, because the standard programs work so well that they need little to no refinement. That said, I have money to buy another toy, but while the Vanquish appears to have very good performance, I just can’t get past that entry level color and CRT style control head. Plus, they saw in plenty of time what was coming from Nokta, so why didn’t they make the machine waterproof? Sadly, the waterproof feature is a big deal for me, which precludes me from buying one. Along with that thought, the Simplex+ doesn’t impress me enough to take a step backward from Multi IQ, despite its attractive price point and waterproof feature. So I sit here with money to spend, but not impressed with either machine to spend it on either one. Here's hoping there will be something new on the horizon from one of the manufacturers that hasn’t come out with anything new for awhile, for those of us who have been spoiled by the Equinox, so we can add to out arsenal of performance machines. Until then, I’m more than pleased with my Nox machines.

The problem I have with my Nox 800 is the chatty EMI in Multi ...... Great comparison. I'm getting a detector was torn between a vanquish or legend, can't afford a 800. But based on your video if your using the 8inch coil you could probably go a little deeper with the 12inch coil and I'm pretty impressed, I want something that will do the job without much tinkering around and go deep and you've just confirmed the vanquish isn't a toy, can get serious results for a much lower price and not have to worry much about firmware upgrades like the legend which there have been many users with issues installing the upgrades and not as good on beach. If only I had another £400 I'd get the nox but vanquish seems not a million miles away from the nox

yea NICE WORK! Great video with great info. QUESTION FOR YOU or PEOPLE HERE. I want to get a simple FIRST detector with MULTI Frequency tech, and the Vanquish 540 w/rain guard, and buy both the 8 & 12 inch coil set ... is this best for value and tech? They are $380 even for the pro on some ebay posts. Please let me know what I will be missing by not going with the NOX or the CTX3030... is there tech I do not get other than ip66 rating? and a lot of more settings? Also is there a brand that took the Minelab MF patent that just ran out, and used it in their detectors? Some SELLERS say "get this one or that one" ...But when I ask about multi-frequencies and stuff like that, they just say the other just has 1 frequency and tell me to go with the 540... I think for under $400 for multi-F detecting is the best value, please inform me if I am wrong. I want to get the best for my father and treasure hunt with him... it would really mean a lot. BIG THANKS!

I'm to new at this whole thing to say to much as I just started detecting this last year and started with the 800. I love the machine and have found some amazing items for being new to this. But I definitely am thinking of adding the Vanquish 540 Pro Pack as my IN THE WOODS detector. I think it looks like it's made to take the beating and banging that happens where I like to hunt in the woods. The 800 will be my Yard, Park and field detector where there is lots of open ground. I figured for what the 6" coil costs for the 800, that's a big chunk towards the Vanquish plus I'll have a great back up machine. Thanks for sharing that test. Very helpful. What gets me is that the Nox 800 is 1100+ while the Vanquish 540 is 499. Something just not right about that. Telling me there is a missing model to the Vanquish (say a 640) at least. More likely two models are missing to hit 699 and 899 respectively. What I think is happening with these companies they are having so many models they sort of shoot their own feet off since a Nox 600 begins at the price point I mentioned a Vanquish 640 would/should be about. Just far too many choices for a newb.

For me If just one it would be the 600. When i am relic hunting allot of the time i use two tones. Did/Don’t dig. At the beach or parks i like 5 tones. Cant do that with the Vanquish and the Safari is kinda like the CTX where its great for coin hunting but slow recovery for relic hunting in iron.

The Vanquish and Equinox are the same machine with the same software ....but .... It's water down software. It's like a Honda Civic for Example the Equinox 800 is the Honda Civic full loaded with a turbo, navigation, same Lane technology, fully loaded. The Vanquish is a Honda Civic with no turbo or navigation just automatic transmission and AC also basic radio. Now with that being said I rather hunt with the Vanquish than the Equinox on the beach because for some reason the Vanquish hates bottle caps. Plus it's more better to swing this. I have a Deus 2 on order and the Vanquish 540 will definitely be my back up machine. Equinox selling it.

I am seriously torn as which one to purchase,600 or 540?!! I'm leaving Garrett behind, just tired of the wonky-unreliable behavior of them.
@IffySignals3 жыл бұрын
I would go for the 600. I really like the 540 and use it allot because i like the coils but i would not trade it for the nox. Allot more flexibility with the Equinox.

@@IffySignals Thanks, I think I will take your advice although I have seen amazing performance from the 540
