I think I read somewhere that the Xterra Pro is mainly designed for Coin and Jewelry detecting. Simple and easy to use. I myself and I am sure a lot of others would love to see how it will work on the beach. Thanks for sharing .

Yes it would be an awesome entry level machine. You’ll eventually want to get a pair of headphones an yes, a pinpointer. What would you choose for all purpose metal detector, Vanquish 540 or X-Terra Pro and why?

It depends on budget and the type of terrain/detecting. The Vanquish cannot be submersed under water however it is a multi frequency machine. The X-Terra Pro has some other features that the Vanquish lacks but does not include headphones. If I could only have one of these two given my preferences and type of detecting I’d probably go with the Vanquish. The question you should be asking yourself if which features are most important given your budget, preferences and terrain.
