I love Bare Minerals. I've used it for years and I wanted to try something new; not because it didnt work perfectly for me. I just wanted to change it up. After a year of experimenting with several different foundations, BB creams - high end and drugstore...I did my make up with Bare Minerals today and thought my covered looked the best it had in...well a year! Ha - never should have strayed from Bare Minerals...especially in summer. Love your vids!

thanks for the reminder we can use our fingers! I recently had what I thought was a reaction to a high-end foundation. I was ready to toss it out until I tried to apply it without a brush or a blender. I was able to use half of the liquid foundation that I had been using with a brush/blender, no product left on or in a brush or sponge, and it seemed to go into my trouble spots/larger pore areas much easier. I think many of us of a certain age forget that we started out with our fingers and got caught up in the tool hype. yes, we need good brushes, but sometimes nothing beats the simplicity of our fingers. thanks Angie!

Bare minerals makes a concealer brush for around the eyes. That's what I use. I also use an electric shaver to shave off the peach fuzz on my face. Elizabeth Taylor used to do that also.😉

By the way, I started just shaving the peach fuzz that started coming in. It really makes a difference and it doesn't grow back dark or anything, it's just fine white hairs that I didn't even realize where their until the sun hits it in bright day light or in evening lit night clubby places where it actually kind of glows. I just whip a shaver across the sides of my face every week or two

Thanks Angie for this tutorial. I love the way you explain each step. You are real and down to earth. I haven’t used bare minerals in years but used to love their foundation. I will pick it up and try it again. I especially like the tip of using a tinted moisturizer to help conceal and tone down redness. You are the real deal and a beautiful lady. I am hitting 59 next month and I appreciate your advice.

Thank you Angie. I had stopped using my mineral powder foundation as I did not like the outcome. It is not cheap so I was not thrilled with letting it sit unused. However, *smiling* since watching your tutorial here last evening I am more pleased with the mineral powder outcome which I returned to this morning. I also have some CC cream and I want to watch your tutorial again regarding the makeup primer and the eyeshadow primer. I enjoy your informative tips and upbeat attitude. Thank you for your time. Merry Christmas. Be well.

Glad to find someone in my age group (almost 46), as I try to learn how to do my own makeup for my wedding! I always moisturize, but I work at home as a jewelry designer, so makeup is usually lips and maybe mascara. Maybe. Want to look my best for my wedding, but also keep my natural look. Great tutorial . I agree with you about the buffing . I know Bare Minerals encourages us to buff , and buff and buff some more . But I find that gives me a more shiny , caked , over made up look . I actually stopped using Bare Minerals for a while , because I wasn't happy with the results . But then , I went back to it , and tried again , and I don't over buff any more . Also , when I finish applying the minerals , I take my damp beauty blender , and press it all over my face , and it kind of sets the minerals , and takes away any of that "powdery" look that can come with minerals . Thanks for posting :)

I don't recall now where I read it or what the reasoning was, but when I was first researching mineral makeup a few years ago I saw a tip that buffing should be kept to a minimum with older skin. Really enjoy your videos, Angie. In particular, that I can understand them! I used BareMinerals for years and loved it (I am in my mid-fifties). Then I decided to give foundation a try again when BareMinerals came out with the liquid mineral makeup. I liked it, and kept using it for a couple of years until I recently stopped in at Ulta for a new bottle and decided to compare the liquid foundation I was wearing on one cheek to the original powder foundation on the other cheek. The salesgirl took the liquid makeup off of one cheek, along with my moisturizer, primer, etc., (obviously!), and she brushed the powder formula on with a new, flat-topped, and very soft brush that BareMinerals came out with while I wasn't looking :), and the difference between one cheek and the other was really noticeable. The powder side was so much smoother and glowier, and the coverage was much better, even though she put it on over bare skin. The difference was really remarkable. I also wanted to make a comment regarding the kabuki brush you used to put on the Bare Minerals, because you stated that you, like myself, don't like to put on a lot of product at one time. I found that when the salesgirl used the soft-bristled, flat-topped brush she was able to put on just the right amount of product (which for me is on the light side), while at the same time sweeping away any excess for a very natural finish. I wouldn't have thought to use a flat-topped brush for this, but having tried it, I think it's superior to other shapes, the key being choosing one with soft, flexible bristles. After some research, I am going to pick one at up at Ulta from It Cosmetics; the #110 Airbrush Finish. Although the BareMinerals brush did a good job at the store, it has a hollow center that I don't like as much. I'm not sure I'd be able to use it as effectively as the professional at Ulta. Anyway..... Thanks for posting a great video. It was very well thought out and really informative.

Sheila Addis if you follow all Angie’s advice I’m sure that you’ll have brighter skin and a more youthful look in no time. Retin A is very important as well as using good skin care and layering the right products, avoiding the sun and using sunscreen, eating a healthy diet, taking good supplements, using NuFace, exercising and applying makeup in a flattering manner. Angie has managed to turn back the clock and I’m sure that you will too. 😘

Great video Angie! I like the lighter look of a good primer and mineral powder for an 'everyday' look but as you say the powder can tend to be a bit cakey. Never thought to smooth over with my hands! I'm a bit of a hand girl also when applying creams of any kind, thumbs up for this 'tip' as I hear all the time you get a better finish with a brush! My biggest battle with makeup is applying too much product to cover bad skin! Keep telling myself 'less is more'! Thanks again. Love your vids. Jo
@ALT-vz3jn3 жыл бұрын
Try using a good blurring primer underneath (a silicone type primer) and letting it dry for a few minutes before applying the mineral powder. Also the Bare Minerals Flawless Finish brush (their current synthetic brush) is the best brush to buff the minerals in properly - the kabuki brush Angie used from Kashuk isn’t dense enough to do a satisfactory job of turning the minerals from a powder to a cream. That’s why she’s complaining that it’s cakey. The brush has to be extremely dense to create the heat needed. Sigma makes good dense brushes for buffing, if you don’t want to buy the Bare Minerals one. The brush makes a gigantic difference in the result, I tested all kinds of brushes even some $100 goat hair brushes from Beautylish, and they don’t buff the minerals from a powder into a cream like the Bare Minerals brush does.

I looked on Amazon for Bare Minerals availability and read a lot of the reviews. It seems one has to be careful when purchasing from Amazon because the claim by many purchasers is that the product they bought was FAKE... not the authentic Bare Minerals. Buyer Beware. I get the itchy skin feeling also... but only when I use BE's eye shadows and mineral veils...AND this only occurs in the summer time when I sweat the most. So I've switched to other brands of eye shadow such as Urban Decay and have no problems. When its 60 or below I switch back to BE as crazy as that sounds! As far as foundations I haven't had an issue with BE's original formula. Hope this is helpful :)

Great video! I'm at the sunset of my thirties (grr!) however I truly appreciate & enjoy your videos. In fact, I sent a link to your video as well as "Flawless Makeup for Mature Skin: by Robert Jones" to my mom. I got a call back saying the guy is wicked funny but Angie's video makes sense! Trust me, it's a huge compliment! xx

Do you recommend sunscreen year round? Living in Canada, we don't get alot of sun in the winter, and even though we get sun in the spring our temperatures aren't usually over about +10 celcius. I've always wondered about this. Would love to hear your recommendation!!

Thanks for the video, am in my mid forties and also use Bare Minerals but it seems a little too caked at times so I will try the less is more approach and see if that helps as well as using the tinted moisturizer first. Do you use the mineral veil after it all, I didnt see you using it here so I was just curious?

Does all the rubbing and brushing and buffing of makeup over the sunscreen affect the sunscreens protection? I just wonder as it would seem it may be rubbed off or moved around leaving less protection. Thanks . Love your channel btw. ❤️

I love celebration foundation by it too! I have the same problem with bare minerals, it itches on me. The celebration Foundation is way more pigmented

Have you found that this foundation does not work in humidity, like Hawaii, looks great, I love this foundation

very nice tutorial :) against powdery look at the end, try to dab slightly a pocket tissue all over the face, like you would dab your face with a towel after washing it. It gives you a very nice finish.
