My o ring keeps popping out and break up while pushing the yoke. I’m doing the exact same thing as in the video but no luck so far..

Do u need the coil retainer pin? Does it make a difference?

yes- i believe it prevents the cable getting pinched or squished when the shaft gets folded up

Is your detector still waterproof after this?

yes- the coil plug is waterproof when securely screwed in. It is the only point of possible water ingress exposed in this job.
