not trying to start a war or whatever but i used to be an exo stan and i always felt this kind of integration between their korean and chinese members were lacking. there were several times they laughed at lay and tao for their korean and many think of it as being "cute" or whatever. but try learning a different language and struggling and having people laugh at you. it's not cute. part of why i stan seventeen so hard is because i can see that they wanna giggle sometimes but they hold it in and help out the8 as much as they can.

I get what you mean. I watched a few episodes of exo Showtime and I remember thinking that they didn't seem all that close to each other (no shade or anything - it's hard with a big group like that). Almost like their relationship as a group was a bit forced? I thought some of them were good friends but others seemed awkward with each other. Idk bc I didn't know much about them (which was why I wanted to watch the show) but in the end, I just accepted that I liked their music more than their variety shows. With seventeen, they were pretty up front about any awkward relationships like in 17 project, wonwoo admitted that he and Jeonghan weren't very close (at the time) and I really appreciated the honesty. It was refreshing.

Yeah I was an exo-l too and even before Kris left I felt there was something off about their bond as a group. And when Kris left it put me off K-pop as a whole because I thought that all the relationships we see in the "reality shows" were all scripted and fake. Seventeen is the first group I've stanned since Kris left and I was really touched by their genuine care and respect for each other... that's what turned me into a carat...their teamwork and strong bond.

I'm super late to this but I feel like that's the difference between SM (and/or the big three) and smaller companies. With Seventeen Pledis right off the bat gave them more freedom to be who they are. There's a lot of honesty with Seventeen. Same goes for BigHit. They gave them the freedom to be honest about their thoughts and feelings and Seventeen and BTS have a really tight bond within their respective groups.
