I listened to this band on cassette tape while serving as a US Marine in Vietnam in 1967. Been a fan ever since. Lordy Be!

Fritz Richmond was the world's premiere jug and washtub bass player. He was also house engineer at Elektra Records (Studio B) for many years. He was an amazing person and friend and is sorely missed.

He contributed more than many even realize.

Fascinating to compare this with the "Chasin' Gus's Ghost" rendition, so many decades later. May we all age as intelligently and gracefully as Geoff.

Wow, Stephen Bruton plays in town every week. I posted a video of ten random record albums I pulled from my collection and Geoff and Maria was one of them. What a joy to find this video to add to my collection of favorites. I'm batting 400 so far.

I believe that would be Geoff Muldaur, with the late and great Fritz Richmond on the jug; and the name of the song is Minglewood. Thanks for posting.

Fritz did tell me that he was the one who came up with the name The Lovin' Spoonful for Sebastian's band but he didn't tell me where he got the name from. Thanks for filling me in.

Super -- but the last name is spelled Muldaur. Or at least it was the last I knew.
