I, personally, do not wear mini braids or twists, mostly because of the daunting take-down. But it is clear that although super neat, you are not braiding too tightly. You obviously know what you’re doing. 🥰

What’s good about not adding hair is the braids are not heavy. The weight of added hair puts far more stress on the follicles and increases the likelihood of hair loss and traction alopecia. Corn row styles did not become popular in the U.S. until the late 60s and early 1970s. This was due to the Civil Rights and Black Power movements when Black people here first began to embrace the culture and aesthetic of our homeland on a large scale. In the early 80s, individual braids became popular, with people adding beads and foil to the ends. Feeding in added hair didn’t become popular until the late 1980s, but has now become the norm, especially amongst women.
