Mini Cooper Convertible Top Problems

If ur softtop was working properly & out of nowhere only the sunroof opens but the softop will not open all the way, convertible style, then I have saved ur life, money, & time!
Any other question or would like me to show a better demonstration feel free to comment.

Thanks Jason! the roof latches were not locking on the mini for the longest time with one side totally out of place. Watching your video and replicating your suggestions proved to get the top in a proper closed and latched position. No more loud wind noises while driving. You're the MAN!

Derrick .K I own a 2005 mini convertible, electric roof works well but when the roof closes the gap between the roof and the top of the screen seems excessive. How do I adjust to close this gap? If you can help I'd be grateful

I just used this and it worked! I had gotten my car back from the auto body shop, and the soft top no longer worked. I was going to take it back there, and Andre offered to look at You Tube videos, to see if they could fix it, but I pulled up my big girl pants and looked at this video. Sure enough, when I opened the boot, the shelf had been dislodged, so after I got it back into place, it worked just fine! Easy Peasey! Thank you!

The wire that goes across was binding on mine. the little plastic grommets had become loose and it didn't fold out of the way easily. could be another point of issue. I really hate my mini. so many problems. broke all top parts... rear window regulators three times in the past 4,000 miles. really crappy car. I would love to suggest class action. I never get to drive it because I'm always waiting to get parts!!!

I have a problem with my back hatch. It does not open when you squeeze the button. I have to pull the ring to open the back. It's a 2005 Mini Cooper Convertible. not S. Also the drivers side door does not unlock with the automatic button. Can this be fixed?

Thanks for this video. I've actually been able to refer several others to this. Unfortunately, mine is still having the problem. I checked the 2 switches and fuses and they're all good. My top still only opens to the Sunroof position and the red lite blinks. have you come across any other repair ideas?

Ray Wright Have you heard anything back or found a solution? My problem is same as yours. The two switches in the trunk and the shelf were the first things I checked, even duct taped them down at one point and tried again! Still no luck

Just tried to put my top down for the first time this year. Only sunroof would open. Got home and went to youtube and found your video. Checked the shelf and as you stated it might be it was not properly in place. Set it as you indicated and lo and behold the top works again! Thanks for taking the time to post the video! Thanks for the video. I tried changing out the tail light myself. Found the previous owner had supper glued the plastic. Anyway I thought that’s why my roof wouldn’t go down. Thanks, on collecting the car from the dealer we couldn't put the door down and it finally worked but I didn't know how. Yesterday I was shopping and must have messed up the parcel shelf because the button was blinking on me green and an icon of a luggage was showing. Could put it right. Your video worked like magic. Thanks for the visuals! It has really helped me understand how the top works and what triggers the mechanisms. Unfortunately it’s still not working although I can hear the motor TRYING to work. The side “button” seeems to be inset further than the one in your video so perhaps that’s the problem. Also the right side of the top lifts off the windshield but stops moving because the drivers side seems stuck…. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Manny, this was happening on my girlfriends car every so often. I think it's when she puts too many bags in the small boot space and it's lifting the parcel shelf. All fixed now, and she's very happy :-)

We tried everything you mention in your video, but our top still would not go pass the sunroof stage. The light is still blinking red and still not working. We made sure the shelf was on too of the button and made sure fuses were good. All still now working...please help
