Be careful of which one you get. Years 2010 and below tend to have the most issues: timing chain coming off, failing water pump, extremely bad oil consumption, and some other bmw issues. I have a 2010 JCW and it has had pretty much every one of those issues, along with a ton of road and wind noise. Worst of all, they suck to work on; the engine bay is half the size of other cars, if not less, and completely packed to the brim. Doing an oil change requires taking out the coolant reservoir (which will probably leak) and reaching in with a 2 foot extension and a 27mm socket. Very tedious. However, the good outweighs the bad in terms of the car. It is an amazing car, the 6 speed manual is the only way to go. The stock JCW exhaust has a deep rumble and pops and gurgles when revving. It is very quick up to about 70 mph because it has a smaller turbo, and the range of it is from about 2500 rpm to 4500 rpm. Anywhere outside of that the turbo isn’t doing too much. But at lower speeds you really feel the power.
