Great diagnostics! A failed High Pressure Fuel pump was the cause of our Mini's starting difficulties, as your video suggested. Unfortunately, it took a couple months and multiple trips to the shop to finally convince my mechanic!

Hi, What is the actual value is over the desired value?

I don't understand, the high pressure fuel spec on the rail should be 50bar at idle and 5bar after in-tank fuel pump. Is the Autologic running an older software?

Where did you tap into the fuel line to test the in tank fuel pump? Mines having the same problem

where can I obtain the desired data for my car? I have a scan tool that runs live data but I would like some "desired" data to compare it to. Any help is appreciated

Is it ok that the high pressure on rail drops from 5mpa when the car turns off?

Hi. I have this same problem with my mini. Can you please tell me how much this repair should cost at the dealer? I heard if it's low pressure fuel pump 800 dollars and high pressure pump.... much more?

Wish I had a $30'000 scan tool so I could see that 'desired' value. Anyone know what the PID for that is?

I use CARLY for this diagnosis. Adapter + App costs once 109,- Euro (49,00 per year for app). Including car coding, maintenance and service tools.

I’ve got an issue with my car hesitating and juddering when pulling away, I’ve noticed at idle if I blip the throttle the fuel rail pressure will drop to 600PSI before settling back to around 700PSI, do you think this high pressure fuel pump could be my problem ?
@Sanjayyy9812 жыл бұрын
Any idea what the issue could be if my desired fuel pressure setpoint also changes? On good startup I get 5.0 bar desired setpoint and actual pressure... However when I have issues both my desired fuel pressure setpoint and actual BOTH drop to about 0.7 bar. Help would be greatly appreciated!

So I own a 2016 f56 JCW and I had a scanner and my car if it were able to start sometimes it would feel like the car was stalling while I was driving and the fuel rail pressure would be at 3,000 PSI at normal operating conditions but whenever it was jerking the car and felt like it was going to stall you could see the graph physically Spike up and down from 0 psi to 3,000 to 600 to 0 etc till it eventually just dies. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump a month ago and while it was fine for a whole month, currently as of a couple days ago I'm getting the same problem again I'm thinking there are some other underlying issues potentially a fuel rail pressure sensor or the sending unit. Interesting note to add even though the car would die and stall out after a couple of times of trying to crank the car and get it to run it would go into this limp mode where essentially it was only putting out 300 to 600 PSI consistently and only 40% throttle but I was able to drive from Atlanta to Charlotte but under those conditions even though my foot was planted to the ground it was still only pulling 30 to 40% throttle.

"key on ignition off" would tell u the in-tank pump pressure, wouldn't it?

How come you and your mini scan tool can be so wrong with values? Fuel pressure @ rail is 50bar at idle not 5bar (value you can expect @ intank pump).
@gothan83364 жыл бұрын
Value is fine but unit should be MPa not bar

It is odd that he states the output from the fuel rail should be 5bar on start. It should be 5MPa which is 50 bar. If the system only needed 5 bar then why would we need two pumps when the tank pump is putting out the necessary 5 bar? Anyway, good video except for that.

Why did you not diagnose the regulator? Why go strait to the pump being bad?
@jasondboarder9986 жыл бұрын
modern day GDI vehicles use the high pressure fuel pump to regulate the pressure in he rail. The regulator in this case is internal to the pump.

Good news! Is your car is less than 100.000 miles and less than 5 or 7 years old you may qualified for free high pressure pomp replacement, call your nearest local dealer before you pay $1800 or more for this job.
@Neptune88 жыл бұрын
the replacement is 10yrs/100k for hpfp and 7yrs/100k for the timing system
