I would love to see more details on the suspension differences between the SE and the S or JCW. For example, the SE is about 1/2" taller. Did Mini fit taller springs to do this or maybe taller spring perches? Can I swap in S or JCW springs instead to lower the car? What about sway bars? How big is the SE sway bar? Is it basically the same as the S sway bar? Does the car understeer like the S does? Thanks!!

I'm on my third BMW Mini, this is an EV for Mini fans first and foremost. If you just want a cheap EV a used Leaf will fill the bill. For car fans and Mini fans in particular, this car is very appealing.

I agree with you guys. I know that it isn’t perfect. But there area some benefits to the gas car. The handling the fit and feel. It just needed an electric motor. And they did it. It would be cool if they redisigned the entire car but… why. It’s better, faster and had better weight balance than the gas mini. Yes it’s perfect as a companion to my long range model Y. My wife son and I can drive the Mini when we will be alone in the car for a short drive. (And we can use the hov lane) Or if it’s just two off us. Or just me and my dog. And of course we have the Y. For everything else.

Presumably they will be able to do a "skateboard" version of the Mini eventually, with a little more capacity and a frunk??

Sure....eventually. :)

The bigger, heavier, slower-cornering, Chinese-built, longer-range electric MINI that BMW says is being delayed by a number of years? No thanks. This SE will be considered a classic when that one eventually shows up (likely sans frunk unless it's a lot bigger).

Safety 3/5 in some catagories keeps me away. This would be my first choice otherwise.

Where can I find the MINI Cooper SE's crash-test results? MINI has added reinforcements to the SE's door sills and A-pillar for increased safety. I was surprised to learn in the video that the frame carrying the motor and inverter is part of the crash-protection equipment. I'd read earlier that the frame was created to mate with the MINI Cooper's standard engine mounts.

I have an F30 Bmw 3 series. I’m in Europe so it has the small 1.5 liter 136hp engine. The car is almost bare bones. I like the car but I would love to have things like Hi-fi, nav, better seats etc. However, the new 3 series costs just too damn much in my country. I love how this mini looks. The top spec of this is rather cheap as well. It has all the bells and whistles. In addition, I don’t have to pay any taxes or fuel costs. One issue is, the initial price I have to pay is one third of my car’s worth. So I’m confused at this point. Should I sell my car and get this small but fun car? Or should I just keep driving my 3 series, which is actually a very good and very sizeable car, and keep my cash.

I wish it was RWD and a bit more range, 150-200. However, I've seen vids where this SE perfoms well in winter temp. conditions. I don't like torque steer on FWD as most don't. Wondering what battery deg. will be, we'll see. You both provide great info. and vids. Thanks

Okay. Interesting. What about regular maintenance expense and other issue expense? Aren't these almost as expensive to maintain/repair as a BMW? Currently have a 2013 Prius and I've taken it in for a "problem" only once. Otherwise, just maintenance. Tires about $600.00 to replace all. i know these are very different cars but considering all options.
