Clipping your cats nails is no different than cutting your own. Except there is a vein, called the "quick" which you have to be very careful not to cut, so you have to be mindful of where it's at so you're not clipping too far down. I believe what you may be thinking of, is that the removal of the claws entirely is similar to cutting off the tip of your finger, or something like that. Which some people have done to prevent the cats from messing up furniture, or scratching them. Basically, if you're not prepared for what all comes with owning a cat, without making physical alterations to them. Do not get a cat. Do not de claw them. Clipping is perfectly fine as long as you're careful.
