I suggest you show the fish in the fish tank so that we can really see what they look like. I would also bring a bigger container or bucket so that I could keep something like that Gar unless you don't want to have a big enough tank for it. Quarantining your new fish especially the wild caught fish is a great idea as many have suggested. It's a good idea to quarantine them and treat the fish for parasitic and bacterial diseases. I started using API brand erythromycin and general cure together for a period in my quarantine tank and haven't had any problems since. You're very lucky to live in a place where you can catch desirable fish to put in an aquarium. I would probably see if I could make it profitable in order to at least fund my hobby. Pretty cool man! 🤙🏻🤙🏿

We go to the creeks often to net fish but every time we do go, at certain times of the year, I see LOTS of poisonous snakes. Ive seen Tipans right on the waters edge and if you didnt see him, your in for a very bad weekend. Further north of me you got to watch a croc aint waiting for you. Also because your always stomping through long grass, you just dont know what there with you. I always make sure I really do stomp by feet so any snake there knows I am coming but not akk our snakes will run away. Certain nesting times a king brown will have a go and also death adders. They are fully ambush snakes so they just sit there and dont move till its too late for you. Just got me thinking the care free way you walk around. Im not saying every where you go your in danger but caution is the best defence. Long boots are a good thing to have on.

One thing is that they (the bluntnose minnows) need plenty of places to hide, and cannot be put with night going fish, since they sleep on the bottom, or like bettas. They can get about 2 1/2 inches long and are fast and agile. They are very panicky, much like shad. If you decide to try to keep them, you'll need to get them in an aquarium as soon as you can, and when you catch them, you'll need your container to have many plants in there to, so they can hide. The aquarium is best to not be lit, and well planted (even with fake plants), and have a slow current. They are schooling fish. I'd suggest having at least 8. I'd suggest at least a 15gal, if all you have is 8 of them in one aquarium. It may also be best to put a tarp or blanket around the aquarium when you first introduce them.

The water chemistry of your tank and that creek is completely different. I am surprise that these fish survive with that sudden change in chemistry. Better to slowing change the water to get fish accumulated to tank water. Also that creek water has parasites and you just added to your fish tank.

The cow minnows are Dwarf Topminnows or Dwarf Killifish. They're the smallest livebearing fish in the world. Males only get to be 0.75" long, and females get to be 1.5" long. Those and the Florida Blue Fins are native to Florida.

Just a thought, maybe a good idea to quarantine canal fish before putting them into your aquarium.

Hey dude nice vids. Get yourself a battery operated air pump sometimes sold as an “emergency” air pump. It’ll help keep the fish u catch stay alive longer in the small aquariums and buckets.
