Loulou and Coco love the beach. Fortunately, we live close to it. Loulou loves the water while Coco loves digging in the sand. They both don't like other dogs. Certainly not when Romy & Claire are with us. They are alert. We hope to be able to practice this more often and to get them used to it, but we don't know many people with dogs. Loulou never liked it and Coco copied her behavior. The weather was great with a beautiful sunset. xxx Eveline

She needs to be strongly corrected. Exposure will not lessen this impulse. But being taught her place. 1. She can get very hurt if this happens with the wrong dog. 2. This could escalate and she will end up biting someone the more emboldened she becomes. 3. This will cause her to be more and more anxious and eventually emotionally distraught. As a dog trainer, and very very familiar with this breed, it would be good to do some desensitizing training. There are good videos on KZbin to explain how to do this. I have clients I help with this. Loulou will be a lot better off and in keeping with her sweet loving nature and Coco will follow if you get this under control. Being loyal and fierce is very much part of this breed. It is best if she knows her place in the pack dynamic. I would hate to see her go from this clear warning to aggression. Dachshunds are well known to BITE. And as she is going in 3 this can get a lot worse. I love your family. And have been a loyal follower for this journey. So I hope this gets better. I would hate to see Lou so stressed. It is hard to watch my clients dogs go through that stress. And a lot no work and a lot of changes in the household to undo it. I'm curious to know your dog's bathing/rinsing practices are after they get sandy. Does their skin get flakey, itchy, or stinky? Personally I just rinse with water in the tub without soaps cause my dachshund seems to have sensitive skin. Question open to all dog owners of course 😁 blessings

@Deorman Robey We have friends with dogs but that's okay. But she doesn't like busy dogs she doesn't know. Lots of people have their dogs off leash and run towards Loulou and she doesn't like that. She's okay with calm dogs like her. Large dogs also fare better than small ones.

Our little guy lost his battle with kidney disease on December 30 of 2020. He was brave and, yes, also a clown. Funny how dachshunds are both. We now have a dachshund puppy, and it's funny to see him learning to be a dachshund. He's not quite as brave as a true dachshund, but I expect he'll learn.

Beaches in our area of Maryland only allow dogs on the beach in off season. We still take our doxie when we can. She can't run loose like Loulou and Coco do but at least she gets to walk in the sand and run in the surf. Lots of love to your entire family. Thank you for sharing. ❤

That photography is so good. My doxies were equally protective and knew where the property lines were on our land. But only chopped at those who wandered or within our own area. These is so calm today. I wonder at storms. Do you go at those times to see a rough sea? Probably pups on leads or not taken at those times.
