Do you like foundation paper piecing? Let me know if you've tried these mini flying geese or if you have any FPP questions!

After the video you posted today, I wanted to go through my scraps and see if I had enough low value scraps to try a small quilt. So as I sit here up to my elbows in fabric, I'm binge watching some of your older videos. In this mini flying geese paper piecing vid, you are finger pressing rather than stopping and going over to press at your ironing board. Try taking a flat iron (for your hair) and keeping it plugged in beside your machine. It's great for pressing small pieces without leaving your sewing machine. I'm loving your common sense approach to quilting!

Aw fab! Picturing you amid your pile of scraps! Great tho about the flat iron! I actually have an iron and mini wool mat to the other side of my sewing machine - I was just finger pressing to make the video quicker and to save me editing out the off camera bit where I go over and iron!😉. So glad you are liking the videos!

Hey, Kristen! Thanks for the pattern! I found it easier to start with the goose (I use it as #1) first then add the sky ( #2 & #3). The scaling guide is really helpful- especially re the seam allowances! Thanks, and stay well!

You mention having issues with accurate cutting, what helped me the most is only using the 28mm rotary cutter. The larger sizes make me a wild woman. I only cut 1-2-3? layers to keep control. I also lay a flat edge dumbbell or kettlebell on the far end of the template so it doesn't move even the tiniest bit as you cut away from yourself. Donna Jordan from Jordan Fabrics has a youtube channel where I learned the weight trick. I LOVE that you don't like patterns. I don't use them very much either. I'm currently binge watching your videos. Keep them coming.

Thanks! What has helped me since filming this is learning to keep my pinky finger on the far edge of the ruler I’m using so it can’t jump on me. But I still don’t love cutting - it’s just the boring bit isn’t it!

I recently discovered your channel. I've been enjoying it so much that I decided to watch all your old videos. My grandmother made quilts out of worn denim for many years and I loved all of them. I love your chats and your approach to quilting.

I love foundation paper piecing, but I don’t think I have done anything quite this small. I hate making flying geese but love the way they look in a border when they are so tiny! FPP gives you such accuracy that even if you have to fiddle a bit, it is so worth it! I am definitely going to try it. I just love the end result! Thank you for sharing this! I also love the heart pattern that you have shared in a different video as well. I have made a lot of hearts using FFP but not one like yours. I have a quilt started that is a different pattern of FFP hearts and I am going to incorporate your heart into my quilt to give it a little variety. I love it! Thank you!

Looks very fiddly I think it would take some time for me to get to that level. You are so good at what you do. Thank you for sharing. Namaste 🧵🥰🐞🤗🧵

It looks fiddly but once you get going it’s actually really easy - especially with simple shapes like these ones!

I love FPP also. Look up quick strip paper piecing by Peggy Martin. The joy of zipping along make 8 units at a time is great. I add 1/2 inch to her fabric strip widths, and use the cut offs for the other side of the geese. I love your videos on quilt as you go. I make all my quilts except baby quilts this way. I have pictures of the quilts I made this way on Pinterest.

Thanks for letting me know. I do have an ad network that puts ads on my site so I assume that is what is causing it. The proper button will be pink like the color in my logo.
