I'd recommend a wide base or secure fixed frame inside for the oil reservoir. One bump that tips it over and you've got a huge fire on your hands. Remember Mrs. O'Leary's cow knocking over an oil lamp.

I really like this concept! I would like to fabricate declarative versions of this heater for my small 1000sq ft home, but hesitant a for a few reasons. Im very confident I could make these units extremely safe, much safer than other indoor heat sources. My issue are. Why are these heaters being vented to the outdoors? There should be no concern for deadly fumes in my home, I believe so anyway? Isn’t this is throwing away heat? Secondly, I live in Massachusetts. And that being said I own my home outright in this state. What’s used to make these heaters are used widely used in everyone’s home everyday. Just the same I have a feeling Massachusetts's will not allow these concepts. And will use this heat source responsible for tornado damage! Sounds crazy, but I live in Massachusetts. I own a mini split System I use daily, set at about 63 degrees. I pay about a $300 electric bill monthly in winter. I use my oil furnace at night. Looking for alternatives. Thank for listening. Bill
@lmtn
@lmtn 11 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns, Bill. It's great that you're interested in exploring alternative heating solutions for your home. Here's a response that addresses your points: "I appreciate your interest in this heating concept, Bill. It's essential to prioritize safety when considering alternative heating sources. The reason these heaters are often vented to the outdoors is primarily for safety. While it's true that you can make these units extremely safe, venting ensures that any potential emissions or fumes don't accumulate inside your home, providing an extra layer of security. Regarding your concerns about wasting heat, some designs do incorporate heat recovery systems to capture and reuse some of the heat before venting it outside, but this can vary depending on the specific design and model. As for the regulations in Massachusetts, it's always a good idea to check with your local authorities and building codes to ensure compliance before implementing such systems. Each state may have its regulations and safety standards for alternative heating sources. It's essential to abide by these regulations to ensure the safety of your home and community. If you're looking for energy-efficient alternatives to reduce your heating costs, you might consider exploring other options like improving insulation, upgrading your HVAC system, or using energy-efficient appliances. These measures can help you achieve a more comfortable and cost-effective solution for your 1000sq ft home. Thank you for sharing your concerns and ideas, and I wish you the best in finding the right heating solution for your needs. Stay warm, Bill!" 🏡🔥🌬️

Great build!!! Can you do the same thing using a Peltier system so that the heat from the stove itself runs the fan! It would be perpetual and no need to worry about the fan needing an external power source such as the battery! I have seen fans that work on a heat burning stove and the heat from the stove itself powers the fan. This exact design but with a heat powered fan would be perfect! Also how do you put the fire out? Maybe construct a top like you made the oil box so that the fire can be easily turned off. Can you modify this exact stove? Since you’re great with metal working perhaps you can construct the fan yourself. The reason I say that is because the fans for the wood burning stove have a short arm. The arm would need to be fabricated longer to reach the fans housing pipe ( sorry I don’t know what’s that called). I believe the peltier system is much cheaper than a battery! I can send you some components for you to experiment with if you’d like?!

Thanks for the great suggestions! Integrating a Peltier system for a heat-powered fan is a fantastic idea, and I’ll definitely explore that. I’ll also consider adding a top to easily control the fire. Your offer to send components is much appreciated-let’s discuss it further!

Air is a very poor conductor of heat
@lmtn
@lmtn Жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. Air is indeed a poor conductor of heat. This is because air is a gas, and gases generally have low thermal conductivity compared to solids and liquids. Air's low thermal conductivity is why many insulating materials incorporate pockets of trapped air to slow down the transfer of heat, helping to conserve energy and maintain indoor comfort.

I understand your concern about the lack of information regarding the use of oil in the videos you've watched. It's essential for creators to provide clear and comprehensive instructions when using potentially hazardous materials like oil in DIY projects. If you have specific questions about the type, quantity, or safety precautions related to the use of oil in a particular project, I recommend reaching out to the video creator directly by leaving a comment on their video or checking if they have additional resources in their video descriptions or on their channel. Additionally, you can conduct your research and exercise caution when working with any materials that may pose risks to ensure your safety.

Kerzen sind teuer und machen Abgase. Eine sehr schlechte Idee!
@lmtn
@lmtn Жыл бұрын

I understand your frustration. It's crucial for the creator to provide accurate information and clear explanations to avoid misunderstandings. If there are specific points that are incorrect or unclear in the video, it would be helpful for the creator to address them and provide the right information. Feel free to point out the specific issues you've identified or ask for clarification. Clear communication is key in these situations.

Huy has tig and mig and wastes his money on jb weld
@lmtn
@lmtn 11 ай бұрын
It's important to remember that different welding methods have their own strengths and uses. While TIG and MIG welding are commonly used for various projects, JB Weld, or similar epoxy-based products, can also be useful in certain situations, such as repairing small cracks or joining materials that are not easily welded using traditional methods. The choice of welding technique or adhesive depends on the specific requirements of the project at hand. Each method has its place in the toolbox of a skilled DIY enthusiast or fabricator like Huy.

Good point! Why do you think they included the blower if the title mentioned no electricity? Does it change the device's efficiency?
