Song meaning of “Up”:
“One of the most prominent themes in “Up” is the empowerment of women. Cardi B asserts her dominance as a female rapper in lines like, “If it’s up, then it’s stuck,” which is a phrase she’s used frequently on her social media accounts. This statement means that if someone has a problem with Cardi or her success, they’ll have to deal with it because she’s not going anywhere.
Cardi’s lyrics also address double standards and misogyny in the music industry. She calls out male rappers who criticize her for being a former stripper, saying, “I ain’t never played a hoe position, I ain’t never have to strip to get the pole position.” By reclaiming the term “hoe” and proudly owning her past, Cardi B is creating a space for women in hip-hop to be unapologetically themselves.”

@@DanceNationStudioI’ve grown up in the dance studio world and currently teach hip hop to children. I usually say the same thing as you about most dances and don’t have issues. But my jaw literally dropped at these kids dancing to the word “pu**y”. I would have a tough time allowing my kids to dance to any song with those words in it or any song handling adult experiences and challenges. I’ve found psychologically that kids have been the most successful when they can personally connect their own life experiences to the dances they’re in. Really cute dance and outfits! But I believe this is a valid concern from the original commenter for these reasons.

Absolutely, 💯% right on! Thank you for being honest as well! ❤ I was being nice with my (now deleted) comment, saying they were "good", etc.. but honestly, I've seen 3 year olds do a better, more in sync, and pleasure to watch routine than these kids did! 🙄 However, my comment got blown up by trolls (I'm assuming people who know the kids, and therefore refuse to see how much this was painful to watch), for me BEING NICE and lying about how they were "good" and were "just a little out of sync" when actually, this was a train wreak... which I honestly wanted to say... but I knew people would have whined about how "their just children", so, instead I lied through my teeth and said it was "good, a little out of sync, but that they tried." ... 😅. Also, what's up with the mismatch outfits, which makes no sense to have 2 kids in purple pants, the rest in pink, like even it out and put a 3rd in purple or something, like, to balance the look out. 🤔 Ugh, anyway, I deleted my comment and blocked the trolls, but now wishing I didn't. These kids COULD have done a great routine, but they need to spend way more time practicing their dancing, and less time with the sass appeal, which I get, was supposed to be "cute", but wasn't! 😬
