Hello Ade, I enjoyed that very much. I would like to recommend to you to get a small bandsaw like the ones Aldi and Lidl sell. They are small, do not take up any more room than a kitchen tray would. I have one and showed it in a previous film, think it was the one where I made the bronze nut blank. They can be tucked away or hung on a wall when not in use. Mine has paid for itself a hundred fold.

The thought of hacksawing through that bar leaves me cold. Build yourself a power hacksaw. Myfordboy offers a set of plans for one. Its fun to build and would make a good project for the channel.

One cannot have too many tool holders. It's nice when once you set up a tool that you're going to regularly use, calibrate the stop so it's centered to not have to touch it again. Swapping tools in your tool holders because you don't have enough gets old after awhile.

well done Ade, saving yourself a few quid there, if you don`t use it already, a handy tip if you haven`t got a band saw and you do have the material, "rifle" drill a line of say 3mm holes along your saw cut first, as close to each other as you can, the saw blade then has less material and its less elbow grease needed, but you do then have to clean the faces up. Great work keep it up. TTFN

Definitely about time you bought yourself a bandsaw Ade, I bought my Warco one for around £100 just before christmas and it's very much paid for itself so far!

@@ade63dug Time for another shop extension? Maybe there's a bit of extra room in the kitchen? I'm sure your Wife wouldn't mind, it would make a very nice meat and bread slicer.

Hi Ade, I agree with the comments that you need a band saw. I bought a bench top Scheppach band saw from Aldi. It was £99 at the time. Saves me a lot of hard work. Great video anyway Ade. Nicely done. Cheers Nobby

I just thought, it might have been an idea to chain drill 7mm holes to give the expensive 8mm carbide cutter an easier time parting off.

Nice work. I've done many tool holders like that - a couple sizes larger for my slightly bigger lathe, but the principles are the same. I'm pretty sure I got the idea from you making yours on the 180 lathe a long time back. I made my first ones on the lathe, using the it as a "laying down mill", but I've got a proper mill since about 3 years now.

I also own and use a chinese mini lathe. Even with all the improvements I've made to it it's still a tinker toy in the world of lathes. I see these mini lathes to be a great benefit to the hobby market because making it usable for doing precision work sets the student up with lots of little projects that teaches a lot of invaluable lessons that one might not otherwise learn if they bought a 'big boy' serious industrial lathe to begin with. My first recommendation for anyone buying one of these new from somewhere like Ebay or Amazon is to tear it completely apart, and put it back together paying attention to calibration. Mine was literally falling apart brand new in the crate and needed a lot of fine adjustments. It will also teach you how the thing is constructed. I believe that if I had it to do all over again hindsight of course being 20-20 I would have saved the money I spent on it and bought a used industrial grade lathe. That said I think if and when I do get a more serious lathe I may hang on to it incase I need to have the big lathe apart for some reason and need to turn a part for it on the mini. I'm glad I had the sense to buy a 'real' bridgeport J-head milling machine made in 1960 instead of one of the tinker toy milling machines coming out of China. I see a lot of videos of users trying to use the tinker toy machines and running into the limitations. Limitation that I don't have with a real Milling machine. Mostly rigidity. Now I just need a serious lathe to match.
