The reason I did the unboxing was to show how it was delivered. When I ordered this one I didn't know if it would come in a crate or a box or on a pallet. I thought others might want to know also.

I have a similar lathe and improved the run out on the chuck by removing the chuck, and putting a dial indicator on the backing plate. I had about 0.002 run out. took a skim pass on the backing plate and now it runs a lot truer. I was really surprised at how much of a difference it made.

The vevor branded ones are pretty good, reasonably well finished, they have wipers and oil zerts on the saddle which a lot of them are missing. I got my Chuck running dead true by skimming the back plate and then stoning one jaw. I would recommend for these using free machining steels.

This is my 2nd Chinese lathe which is branded vevor and seems to be better quality, these machines have their inherant problems worst one being the motor is weak stalling out stressing the belt and doing damage, but was surprised to find a spare belt in the parts bag. BTW those belts are almost impossible to find!!! Mine arrived in good time well packed damage free......as with most all these cheap imports need mods so they'll run right........i have the 7x14 digital readout metal gear version and paid $520

I own a minilathe for nearly 3 years now. The cost is ridiculously low, so the quality is too... If you want a efficient tool for learning or working...forget it. If you want an opportunity to fiddle with mechanical toy and tweak it is just perfect. You can easily improve it and make it way better. You can afford to fail and destroy it. But be aware : it will takes you time and effort more than the part you'll produce actually justifies!
