What does the cello tape do?

Adding the tape allows tags or pocket inserts to go into the pocket smoothly. If you don't cover the hinge with the tape, your tag could get stopped by the hinge where the tape will help it to glide right over it. Hope that makes sense. I suggest trying it out and seeing the difference.
