Best description ever of the difference between a trap and a field gun EVER. Thank you.

The angle of the rib in relation to the angle of the barrel is what determines “how high” a gun shoots, not really the stock itself. Field guns typically have ribs that are parallel with the barrels. Trap guns typically have a rib that ramps down towards the muzzle. Think of it like having 2 lasers, the laser in the barrel is where the shot is going and the laser for the rib is where you’re looking. The two will cross on a trap gun, hence the gun shooting high. A field gun they stay more parallel hence the gun shooting flat.

I am interested in starting to trap shoot and this is the best explanation of trap guns / sight lines / elevation I have seen. Thank you. And, you should know that I found you via Hickock 45 - always mentions you as a great partner.

Really good video. I especially liked the part near the end where you spoke to an all around gun with an adjustible comb; a nice choice for somebody who wants one gun to be good enough for more than a single discipline. If I would add anything, I would suggest that trap guns be a bit heavier (and longer barrels -- 30" to 34") than skeet or sporting guns (28" - 30"), because weight reduces recoil and helps stabalize the "swing". Keep up the good work!!!

Trap shooters should use the #4 shot not trap loads, how many pellets are in trap loads, use #4 instead.
