Ive owned both these machines and there is no comparison. The Vermer is far superior. Track retention, reliability and capabilty, it is streets ahead of the Toro. We were constantly replacing parts on the Toro until it had a catastrophic failure very early in its life. Years later the vermeer is still working every day
@topsaw6 ай бұрын
Wow, great review. I still have the Vermeer with no problems

You need to compare operating capacity machines. What is the 50 percent tip rating on each machine? I have the toro dingo 323. It is an awesome machine! I have my own tree service and I get calls often from other are companies that don't have a mini skid and haul the logs out for there jobs. You should have put the vermeer grapple on the dingo.

You compare different sized stems with different designed attachments to judge differences between machines?
@stephen-ng5 жыл бұрын
We don't use the gas-powered Toros, only the diesel ones (525 and 1000). Due to the nature of my work, the Toros break down, but this is due more to the work conditions (which are extreme) as well as the duration of their usage (which is daily, 7 days a week).

So I know this video is 3 years old, but it appears you are still responding. I did watch the entire video, and read most comments before deciding to respond. I sell mini skids and attachments. If you prefer the Vermeer, awesome. You pointed out a couple very good reasons to prefer it. First off this comparison is apples and oranges. The Toro machine is actually rated 35# heavier operating weight. Using a grapple with a 3' longer reach nullified that fact. Yes, I heard you mention that. It would have made a lot more sense to see both machines use exact same attachment, lifting exact same log to evaluate. I saw your note that you did lift cedar log with Vermeer. I'm embarrassed for your Vermeer rep. He either doesn't know his equipment or he was showing off at the risk of injuring someone. A 24" diameter 8' oak log is exceeding the capacity of either of those machines with that much extension. Off my soap box now 😉
@topsaw2 жыл бұрын
Great input and I agree with what you are saying. I am no expert just a first time buyer of a mini skid steer. Three years later, I will say the Vermeer has served us well with zero breakage. It is perfect for that flat parking lot but if we're to buy another one, I would go bigger and wider. Thank you
@exiledknight39612 жыл бұрын
I have seen it lift the log when operated by someone who has experience with it.

I'm sure you know this but those to minis are not in the same ball park . that is an old dingo and the vermeer is newer and larger. I use both brands weekly vermeer is a way better machine hands down. I have owned one for years.
@johnsassenberg5063 жыл бұрын
Try a Toro TX1000, much more capacity and capability than what Vermeer offers, and a much higher lift capacity for jobs where you have to load over the sideboard of a truck. Vermeer hasn’t made anything yet, to my knowledge, that can load higher than a standard pickup truck.

@topsaw4 жыл бұрын
Certainly need a 3/4 ton truck at the least to pull it. I like Vermeer because they are reliable, I have had a lot of their equipment and always liked it. Price of mini skid steers all over from 25k to 75k

Most new half ton trucks will handle the weight and trailer needed for any mini skid.

Hey I run a large tree service in Florida we throw away a lot of huge oak slabs I would like to start saving them but I haven't found a sure fire way of drying them without them splitting so badd because there's so much water in the oak trees here, do you have any suggestions? Thanks
@topsaw5 жыл бұрын
The oak really twists, we mill it wet, strap it to dry it and then use the CNC to plane it. People love the slabs though

Toro hydraulics are superior quality. 4 pumps allow simultaneous functions. Toro is a more profitable machine. Narrower over-all and simple ground drive controls. Vermeers break down shortly after the warranty is up. Vermeer has good servicing dealer support cause your going to need it.

@@renegade1926 My comments are my opinion based on personal experiance and observations. Vermeer products have a propensity to self destruct and are way over priced, especially their brush chipper line. No manufacturer is perfect, they all have bugs and engineering revisions.

Waste of money. Spend a little more and get a real skidsteer. These baby things can’t cut the mustard for most jobs. They’re always being pushed to the limits. It’s like using a ford ranger to do a 3/4 tons job.

Fair enough. I had a 7k pound mini excavator and thing could do real work. Only problem was I couldn't ever get it into anybody's yard or if I drove it on the lawn it destroyed the lawn. There probably is a happy medium.

A ctx100 can do a lot of work. Especially in tight spaces. Vermeer is rolling out a ctx130 soonish, and that puppy can really do some work.

Says the guy who's never actually used one and is judging by looks alone. I agree on the little toro, too small and weak to do a lot of jobs. The diesel powered Vermeer will dig dirt and move materials all while fitting through a standard fence gate, which is what they're designed to do. I just used a Ditch Witch to excavate for a concrete slab and it dug through hard dry clay no problem and carried it out through the gate that wouldn't have allowed a bigger machine. Then I used it to move 8 tons of 3/4 down base material back in through the gate and spread it. I've used the ctx 100 to build retaining walls and dig dirt and it's equally as capable. You also don't have to climb in and out when you need to get off the machine to shovel or check your grade, you just step off and hit the ground running.
