MINI Smartphone Apps

Did you know there are apps from MINI/BMW for your smartphone? Well there are a couple actually. Here we will take a look at the officially MINI ones.

Thanks for the information. I've had the Mini Connected and Journey Mate for a while, but don't use them very often. I agree with the 'gimmicky' description. I just downloaded the Owner's Manual app so I will have to play with that now. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah maybe one day they will do more. I guess they are better than nothing. Enjoy the owner's manual! Much easier to use and search than in the car itself.

Thanks for the upload on these apps. I have a 3 door Cooper S I got new 7 months ago and initially downloaded the newer version of the mini connected app. I have since discovered the old app and was surprised it had things like the sports instrument part where it shows the current engine temperature live, as well as power and torque live on the screen as well. I also like that it can show you your maximum g-forces. I’m surprised they did not include these in the newer version of the app, and that my dealership never even told me about them. Hopefully this video lets other mini owners discover these features they may not have known about before.

Yeah my dealer never mentioned these apps either. I think both the apps are kind of half-baked so they are not well advertised. The new app looks really nice aesthetically but could def use more functionality in it.

The MINI Vlog I agree, I think if they could take parts of each app they might have something with some work. Hopefully they can improve it in the future. Keep up the great videos, they have given me inspiration to start doing some of the mods you’ve done to your car on my own 👍

ummmm I plugged it in and it works. I didn't do anything special. Do you have the older version of the app and if so, does that one connect?

The mini connect won’t even allow me log in or create an account. The country selection and language are highlighted in red and then the app crashes

The app is really not the greatest. It's missing a lot of cool features it could have had. Whenever I talked to dealers they always talk about how much awesome tech these cars have but really that tech is just RGB LEDs that you can set the color of. I don't think the app has had any significant update in a long time and it's a bit sad how far behind the tech has fallen to other base model cars

I have a 2014 Cooper S F56. Can't seem to get me app to connect with my car. Tried Vin #, uninstalling the app, to no avail. I use a Android Phn was wondering if you might have any suggestions sir?

I have some bad news.... I have been told the app is dead. Mine has the same issues yours does and after talking to a dealer they told me the app is done. Sad sad news.

hey, what's up? can't get my mini connected to login the app.. even connected via USB cable.. Also some have a screen shot because of security policies it won't let me take one.. also it won't let me register my VIN number and I've heard I'm not the only one

Unfortunately the app no longer works. Mini seems to have abondoned it.

Hi Nick! I’m a bit tech illiterate. Could you please explain, how you send a location from Google Maps on your phone - as directions to your GPS?

It's not super straight forward. When you open the MINI connected app, you click on the menu on the left and then tap on destinations. From there you use the search bar (which is powered by google maps) to search for and find your desired destination. Then you will be presented with a button that says "send to vehicle". You won't see that button until you do a search in the apps destination section. Hope this helps!

That's probably a setting on your iPhone itself. I'm not an iPhone user or expert so you will have to Google how to turn off that feature. Maybe this will help? www.imore.com/how-stop-music-app-auto-playing-your-car

Any phone shorter than 14.5cm should fit in there. So the smaller sized phones like the Pixel, iPhone Pro smaller sized phone will fit.
